It has to do with the current world order. The US has been on top of that world order economically and militarily. Yes, every country has a right to defend itself. There is a reason why the US is considered the world police and invests so much in its military capabilities worldwide. The US is on top, meaning greater political and economic power. It has a vested interest in keeping things the way things are. Ensuring peace not only controls the world order, it allows for economic development and trade that the US can guide and profit from. Its not only the US, but the other wealthy nations. It also relates to the ideology that is followed in the world. China does not follow a Democratic government. It does not venerate individual rights and freedoms that Democracies as institutions are built to do. I would agree that there is argument against the US Democratic institution as well. However, the guiding principals are still in force, where they seem illusory at best in China. The guiding leader of the world matters. While it is beneficial to those in power, it directs the development of other nations around the world as they mimic and adopt best practices in governing - currently Democratic practices. I believe Taiwan follows the same political dogma as the US - Democratic and Capitalist. The US retains its moral authority not through strength alone, but through the support and cultivation of individual rights in other free (Individual rights, Democratic) nations. I admire the ingenuity and adaptation that China has managed in the recent decades. I don't admire their tyranny of government. Taiwan is about more than Taiwan. It likely unlocks the Pacific Ocean for China, which means military and trade power. It is also a battle of ideals on the world stage.

@@combtop As a well informed American I can say you are either extremely naive or a paid troll. We preach democracy but we really only practice tokenism. Just because you go through the circus of holding election doesn't mean you have any say on what policy takes place. China has spent the last 10 years building up its military at an accelerated rate, has told the PLA to be ready to invade Taiwan by 2027 if intelligence agencies are to be believed, using cyber warfare to steal secrets to benefit both private businesses as well as the government, and regularly harasses countries and their ships throughout the South China Sea and has done this for 2 decades or more, with it intensifying in recent years. Military bases around the South China Sea were important against a weaker foe, such as in the Vietnam War. The logistics of re-supply from the US mainland is greatly helped by their location. Today, against a near-peer foe, their importance has diminished because of their known location and activities from surveillance. The countries hosting these bases are in a quagmire because they know that they would be the targets should they allow the bases to be used in military operations against their near peers, whether it be Russia or China.

So China does not bully its neighbours; why do you think China is an angel? And the United States is the evil guys? Though the United States has the whole power to colonise the world. After the surrender of Japan, the US didn't do it, Brits USSR would have totally surrendered their land and colonies to them considering only the US possessed the nuclear capability, but they didn't do it, instead they built many countries, unfortunately your country wasn't one of them, but there is no real reason to distrust the US when you know how bad the other guys are.

The adoption of the One China policy by the United States, a key component of President Richard Nixon's foreign policy, was formalized in the 1972 joint communiqué with the People's Republic of China (PRC). This policy, characterized by its strategic ambiguity regarding Taiwan, marked a significant shift in Sino-American relations. In the communiqué, the United States recognized the Chinese assertion that there is only one China, which includes Taiwan, but did not explicitly endorse this view. Instead, the United States acknowledged it and emphasized its interest in a peaceful resolution to the Taiwan question. Nixon's 1972 visit to China and the ensuing communiqué were crucial in establishing a new phase of engagement between the two nations.

The phrase "Fill water" is a mistranslation. "Filled water" is a common Chinese phrase used to denote that a high quality item has been replaced with a lower quality item (Such as an expensive broth being replaced with tap water). To be honest, I feel that there is no country in the world that doesn't hate the US government. To be honest, China is not inferior to the US now, and it will definitely be a win-win situation. However, China's personality is relatively gentle, emphasizing a community with a shared future for mankind and win-win cooperation. This is due to thousands of years of cultural cultivation. The US seems to dislike any country being stronger than them in any aspect, stirring up trouble on Earth every day, which is a bit like a small animal that hasn't evolved yet.
