I realize it is September 2021 but I have to tell you the honest truth. Once I found your channel about four months ago I decided it was time for me to start cooking again. Both my kids are out of the house and it’s hard wanting to cook just for myself. You brought back my love of cooking simple foods and gave me an excuse to use my mom‘s cast iron skillet. Your homemade potato soup and now this hamburger soup are two of my favorites. I also wanted to send you my prayers for you and your family on the loss of your husband. We’ve all been through a lot in the last couple of years and you are definitely in my prayers. I purchased your cookbook for my daughter and she’s also falling in love with it. Now I’m going to have to buy myself a copy. Thank you for what you do and thank you for sharing your ministries thru KZbin. It’s lovely to hear someone talk about their love of the Lord and I can tell that you live that way every day. Thank you for what you do. I am a fan from North Mississippi.

"Refrigerator soup" is what my Mom called hers, I guess because when she made it, all the refrigerated leftovers went into the pot. Now I'm approaching 70 myself, not so spry around the kitchen (nor anywhere else) these days, but I still find occasion to put on a pot and make up a pan of cornbread to go with it. 'frigerator soup and cornbread is about as filling and warming a meal as it gets; the power of it to bring family together at suppertime on those cold winter's nights is a treasured memory.

That's so true that is brings families together. I know there's been time when my husband or my kids have been having a bad week or we've just been upset about something ,so I would make a big pot of soup & cornbread and it cheered everyone up. I had to smile when I saw this video! My husband makes something similar and I call it "Hamburger Stew" although it's not quite as thick as stew. He adds diced tomatoes instead of tomato sauce (the tomato sauce is too acidic for me). He uses frozen mixed veggies, kidney and black beans, a can of hominy (white or yellow), chicken broth in place of water, and onions and garlic when he's browning the hamburger. It's probably one of my favorites, winter or summer and a 4 quart pot really isn't big enough so he uses the 8 quart pot so nothing spills out! Some buttered french bread if you want something for dipping, and it tastes even better the next day as leftovers! :-) YUM! Thanks for your videos!

That's cute, my wife couldn't cook at all when we married, I've always done most of the cooking. The first meal she tried to make for me was spaghetti. She spilled half a can of pepper into the sauce (dropped the can in the sauce with the lid up) and not knowing any better she stirred it up rather than scooping it out. I ate half a plate of it, trying not to hurt her feelings, until my stomach started to burn. She told me what had happened and we laughed about it for days. That was 23 years ago. I will tell her it is now to be referred to as "Honeymoon Spaghetti". LOL!

I love making this to clean out my freezer. Leftover veggies all get tossed in. Love Lima beans in this too. Also using tomato soup is delicious. Love your videos!

I love all of your videos and you have inspired me to try several of the recipes--meatloaf, peacher cake, and hamburger soup. You are so sincere and well-spoken and set a good example for all women IMHO. Thank you for being you.

You are a blessing. I love your channel. You cook like my mom and my Grandmother. My mom would put tomato juice in her soup and my granny put a can of tomato soup. I usually do tomato juice or spaghetti sauce and make it with an Italian taste. The Lord bless you and keep you 🙏❤

This has been my favorite single Mum soup for over 20yrs. Just like you said..made it different ways with whatever you have. Noodles or potato. Fresh or frozen or combined. Sometimes in summer I use tomatoes, zucchini, and green beans from the garden. And add oregano and garlic. And a hint of worcestershire and red wine. And always use the sugar and a tsp of butter to take the edge off.

God bless you Becky! Back in the 80s I had a restaurant and once a week (Wednesday) I made a similar version of this soup, served it with a mini loaf of homemade bread and butter and sold out by 1pm every Wednesday! The only things I did different was I left the hamburger in bigger chunks, more like tiny meatballs, used canned chopped tomatoes, tomato paste and green beans. I also added a few more spices like Italian seasoning, marjoram and bay leaf. No matter how you make it, it's delicious! I hope and pray you're past all the censorship now.

Thanks for sharing that with us, God bless you! The censorship is far from over, but it has slacked up a little bit.

I make a similar recipe in Winter. It's a good way to use leftover frozen veggies, since we rarely need a whole package for a meal. It's an adaptable recipe that can be made with what you have. I have used the same method for Minestrone and for chicken soup too.
