I wish we had a boat yard around my marina that would allow people to do their own work. Save money and have the piece of mind that it is done right. Looks good!

This was a great view of the not-so-fun side of boat ownership. Really appreciate you showing us as it is!

It was nice to see the detail on the bottom job with the two types of paint. You'll have to let us know as you cruise down the east coast again through the Carolina's and Georgia. Great tip on the "On and Off". I will give that a try to remove my ICW smile.

Easier way to clean the prop in the future, you can get metal brushes that fit onto your drill and will take it down to bare metal easier than hand scrapping. Nice to see the whole fam getting involved in the work!

I'll admit I cried a little seeing the prop. I turned away from everyone and kept it quiet, but still. They say the Petite doesn't work well on metal, so there we go, Fosters case study. Looked like you hauled out in a camp ground, awesome.

It felt like a campground, it was beautiful!

no matter a boat, house, car, etc. it all requires maintenance. Glad that it all worked out and you didn't have any major damage to that keel.

Well Done! One small minor safety tip. Your eyes are well worth the cost of a pair of safety googles. One small splash of On Off or Barnacle Buster and your vision could be seriously impaired. Sunglasses really don't give sufficient lateral protection.

The boat looks fantastic! Is the zinc paint better than Prop Speed? Also, what is the name of the acid treatment? That stuff worked very well. Thanks, Shane

Off and On. Or it might be On and Off. Be careful, it burns through towels, lungs, and flesh. ⚠️

Use barkeepers friend instead of tilex. It will work much better.

Bay mud is easy on boat bottom and keel. Unlike the keys and Bahamas which are full of coral and limestone. Buy more chain and let more out.

Thankful for the mud!

How often do you clean the bottom while in the water?
@TheFosterJourney4 ай бұрын
@@LynnDominique when it shows a little growth. When the paint is fresh, and we're moving every few days, it stays clean on its own. We've learned when we anchor in a place for a month to go for pleasure sail every few days.

Do you not have a sacrificial zinc on your shaft? I didn't see one.

No, just on the end.

Seems like DIY is always done with the tools on hand instead of the best tools for the job. I'm resurfacing a concrete counter and am definitely not using the best tools. My question is what would have been on the tool wish list for your bottom job.
@TheFosterJourney5 ай бұрын
That's diy in a nutshell...plus lacking that intricate detailed know how that make trades pros so efficient and artful. This was a pretty easy bottom job, we had everything we needed, except knowledge about our Cutlass bearing.

I was just curious why you didn’t use different colors on the bottom paint so you could tell how it wears.

We don't have/need the layers, just one coat lasts 2 years. And we like black.

I am interested in the electric scooters you have. Who makes them and would you recommend them? Love the videos, keep them coming
@TheFosterJourney5 ай бұрын
Definitely recommend!!! Wish we'd had them sooner. I recommend the bigger of the two scooters we have. It's an Isinwheel, 500w, with dual suspension. amzn.to/4bBsEA4 The other is an iScooter. The dual suspension is noticably more comfortable as is the larger battery. But it is a little heavier to lift.
