I was part of the 1965 war. We were only 3 kms from Sialkot and had entered right up to Chavinda-26 kms inside Pakistani territory. We had broken the Pak rail link from north to south as the Alhar railway station was under our control. Even in Lahore sector the Indian army had reched up to Bata shoe factory on the out skirts of Lahore. We did not take Lahore, because that was not our aim. Moreover taking such a large city would have it's own problems. But, all those who were adults in that era will remember that the USA had taken permission from govt of India to use Lahore air port to evacuate it's embassy staff.

Then when the army commanders on the ground told Delhi and Indian high command they were told be careful there is no trap. So then they stop just outside Lahore. But also right that taking Lahore was not our aim as it would pose problems with so much population to manage.

He's not saying not the truth and is no way near close to it lol 🤣 Pakistan's really intention were much much more sinister and the reality is that India absolutely HUMILIATeD Pakistan in 65' They lost a large amount of key areas in Kashmir after the 65' war which ironically helped us in Kargil war and they completely lost rajasthan, hyderabad and all naval ports. We still let them have a significant little portion of those lands just to humiliate them 😂

I am 85 and was born in Lahore in 1935. All war hysteria s created by politicians in Pakistan. Tribal attack on Kashmir was initiated to capture it in 1947 as Pakistan did in other states like Gilgit, Balochistan and others. In 1965, Pakistan versus India was created by Pakistan leadership and result of bad treatment of Bangladesh and economic smuggling to Pakistan of all revenue with least investment in Bangladesh.

Mr Hamid Bashani makes such an important point: europe as a one big community sees it future as one and so should Indian sub continent. Indian sub continent (india, pak, nepal, bangladesh, srilanka) are all one community related by blood and genes and the should see themselves together as one group. On local (national, province etc.) level they can maintain independent culture and let them thrive. No dominent culture should try to impose on others (happens within a country as well). Just because subcontinent hosts so many communities based on religion, language, culture and traditions - they should not work against each other but with each other. Otherwise fighting each other would only result in loss.

As a Kashmiri living in Kashmir at that time, I can categorically state that there was no support for Pakistan. Actually once the intruders were getting decimated, Kashmiris sold Commandos for paltry sum of Rs 100.

IN 1965 Pakistan came close to Akhnoor. India opened a new front in the desert and almost reached Lahore..The intention was to build pressure on Pakistan to withdraw If Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister then, she would have used it differently... Compared to Indias advance into Pakistan up to Lahore, Pakistans push into Kashmir was NOTHING...they were bound to withdraw... Indira Gandhi, as we saw in 1971, would have calculated things very differently... She had flair to change history by creating new nations....She would have broken West Pakistan..

barister saheb forgets the fact that India was just nursing its wounds after 1962 war, and pakistani army thought that they could win if they have a war with India at that point of time. The problem is that pakistan from the date of start was preaching wrong history, pakistani army started believing the same history and 1965 war is a result of it. Be it 1971 or Kargil war is also a result of this thinking.

In 1965 , according to confidential reports of US embassy now available on social media , Pakistan had been left with 2 days of ammunition to fight the war and they were frantically appealing international community to step-in to restore a ceasefire......at this juncture USSR came forward to save Pakistan and convince India for a ceasefire. After this the Tashkent parleys took place. Pakistan got a lease of life due to USSR (the mediator) and India (the neighbor whom world considers a democracy)

Few weeks after '65 war, India invited defense experts from around the globe at a huge exhibition of war-trophies ( Patton/Sherman/Shaffie tanks, Saber jets/Star-fighters and field-guns etc.) in Punjab , the site became famous as PATTON NAGAR. Gen Ayub had thought that Pakistan has the best of american hardware and India will be no match for them, but he had to cut to a sorry figure. USA had strongly objected to the exhibition of PATTON NAGAR to save the prestige of it's war-industry..lol.

I don't have to check, I belong to a family of armymen...I had visited Ichhogil Canal as a visitor after the war which lies on the eastern side of Lahore..further in Rajasthan sector Pakistan's 2000 sq km area was captured by Indian troops. Yes two or three strategic features were captured by pak in Kashmir because it were they who initiated the war by stealthily launching Operation Gibraltar in J&K. India would have reached & annexed land upto Indus in Sindh , cutting off Karachi altogether

Yes, the Quran was written in the 7th century and there was no Islam before that. But all great science inventions were uttered to an uneducated Mohammad (PBUH), who then slowly recited it to his followers who were also uneducated.
