My profound respect for this gentleman and scholar. I thank him for exercising fearless moral integrity to tell the world how erstwhile East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) was treated by erstwhile West Pakistan (now Pakistan) between 1947 and 1971 which ultimately led to the break-up of the former "United Pakistan". Bengalees were exploited economically, marginalised socially and were subjected to rampant discrimination when it came to entry in government and military positions. The entire city of Islamabad was constructed with the use of jute export revenues. Jute was the largest cash crop of erstwhile East Pakistan. It is this economic exploitation, social marginalisation, and rampant discrimination which led the Awami League (led by Bangladesh's Founding Father, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman) to table the Six-Points Programme to the military governments of Ayub Khan and Yahya Khan. The Awami League and Sheikh Mujibur Rahman won a landslide victory in the 1970 general elections and hence had the mandate to lead the country. The Six-Points Programme was of course vehemently rejected by Ayub Khan, Yahya Khan and political parties based in West Pakistan simply because this programme was highly inconvenient for them as it required the central government to exercise fairness for the first time to, not just its eastern province which it was accustomed to exploiting, but all its provinces.

There was No Pak Bangla war in 1971 but Indo Pak war of 1971. Pakistan was dealing with the secessionist groups who wanted separation of East Bengal from Pakistan. However it lead to the Indo Pak war resulting in the separation of East Pakistan. War was fought between the two recognized nation who are the members of the United Nations. In that war Pakistan was defeated on both fronts and the country was dismembered. The dismembered province became another country known as Bangladesh. A very good narration by Bashani Sahab.
