It didn't make a difference, tho, their car was just too bad. I mean it's true that Ferrari has a shitty strategy team, but they also tried everything when they had a really shitty car, because honestly, it doesn't make much of a difference and for the off chance that something changes (slightly cooler weather, tire works better than expected etc) you can actually gain big time. The difference between 4th and 6th or so... Who gives a fuck. If he didn't have a terrible start and capitalized on the softer tires, he could've been second after the first lap and profited off track position. I'm honestly so tired of people having to apologize to Hamilton all the time when he can't make a strategy work. Other people got shit strategies and make them work to their advantage, if it doesn't naturally come perfectly to Lewis, he's so sore to have around, it's actually not fun watching anymore (I do believe he is a pretty cool guy outside of F1, but as a driver he's just too whiney and childish for me sometimes, sorry). I will be interested to see how he handles Ferrari corporate culture... With a very quick teammate (arguably a way better qualifier than Russell as well) who just gets on with life and doesn't constantly blame the team around him, I would think he will have a hard time appealing to the Italians with this mindset. Soft tyres should never be used to determine maximum speed the whole cars performance should be built on the medium tyres. Further track position is the prime consideration when considerinng tactics. Only luck gets you in front of the first 2 when your in 3rd place on the grid. So soft tyre use at the beginning of a race is nonsense.

LH strategy was fictional and doesn’t make any sense at all, because if the case was so, they would be anticipating a safety car only somewhere between lap 8-10, if a safety car was deployed before that he would definitely lose position. Considering both Mercedes capabilities which is definitely more obvious to the team, the best they could do was somewhere between P3 to P5, but they sacrificed Lewis and favored Russell only to a avoid a highly possible on track clash between both drivers which reflects the intentions towards Lewis.

Mercedes haven't really been competitive since the summer break. Finishing over a minute behind in Singapore was bad, but the twisty nature of the track exacerbates the car differences. 4th and 6th is not the end of the world; in early 2022 Hamilton struggled to even score points. With a better strategy Mercedes could have finished 3rd and 5th (assuming Piastri could have undercut only one Mercedes at the pitstops and would then be unable to pass the other on similarly-aged tires). Hamilton's tire gamble didn't work out in the end, but that's why it's a gamble. Had he passed Verstappen (and Norris) at the start and kept them behind, everyone would have praised the Mercedes strategist. I do think they pitted him too early, maybe because Sainz' incredible pace on fresh tires frightened them. With Hamilton out of the way, Mercedes lacked a car to keep Piastri behind, so Russell lost out as well.

This so called strategy for Hamilton to start on soft is not even close to a strategy but more a ridiculous decision. If ever this soft tyre would support Hamilton in winning 1 position at the start, or even 2 positions, because of the rapid degrading of the softs, it would have forced Hamilton to a very early pitstop resulting him to fall back to one of the last on the grid as the cars were stil close in the beginning of the race. It has no use getting in front of 2 faster cars at the beginning of a race when you know they can simply pass you after a few rounds and leave you as a sitting duck (again like in Abu Dabi) and loose the battle. VERY VERY weird thinking, do Mercedes really think that by just putting softs on, Hamilton would have just run away from Norris, have they been sleeping during free practice and qualifying where you could see the pace of the competition? BUT as Hamilton is driving this car with the WRONG tires, WHY does he agree getting them on in the first place. He is to blame himself first and mostly. Now he just accepts a weird strategy and if it does not turn out in his advance he starts nagging again. Can't wait to here him nagging all day in the Ferrari, that will be a handful hor him if you take into account how Ferrari and 2 VERY good drivers struggle with a car AND the Ferrari team strategy for years.

The soft tyre strategy did not work. Hamilton must have been party to the decision to use them at the start, presumably the idea was to jump Verstappen and Norris and take the lead and put the between him and Russel but it didn't come off. Of course the softs would not last as long as the mediums so he was first to pit for hards. So the car wasn't as fast as he wanted. Every race drivers have to deal with a car that not as fast as they would like or a strategy that doesn't work. He is acting like a spoilt brat so used to getting everything going his way he gets out of his pram when he doesnt. I suspect his real problem is being beaten by Russel who would be ahead of him in the championship if he hadn't been disqualified a few weeks back promoting Hamilton to first place.

No one wins by sabotaging LH, stop silly conspiracy theories. LH was put on shifts to give him an opening lap advantage over max and lando in the hope that he could overtake and take the lead. Singapore is known for having safety cars or red flags, and the team was hoping for on to then give them the 'free' pit stop needed to keep LH in a fighting position. LH couldn't compete with the leaders even on the soft tyre, this therefore did not give him the competitive advantage the team was hoping for. Added to this, this was the first race in history without a SC or red flag, which then threw the strategy out of the window. No conspiracy, just bad luck. Remember every point lost is money lost for the team, they're not that childish that they'll sabotage a driver and risk losing money. Has anyone thought that maybe LH is sabotaging himself, so that he can look more competitive in the ferrari thereby justifying his move.
