Mercedes and Toto knew the car was underweight, thats why they didn't drain all of the fuel as rerquired = before weighing. They hoped to get away with it, to bad FIA followed procedure and checked - found the extra fuel and drained it. Good on them. And no wonder Hamilton is going to Ferrari, Mercedes has been doing everything in their power for the last 10 years trying to make sure their chosen white boy (whoever it is at the time) beats their best driver!

Lewis was the rightful winner already from the first with his take overs against RB and Ferrari . George didn’t even manage a single take-over in this race…. Mercedes is just losing more fans with their strategy agains Lewis.

Two issues here. George effectively shot himself in the foot with his one stop. So why was he allowed to stay out? However, Lewis could have been robust enough to tell his engineer that he was staying out and would have benefitted from that!

Toto's face after George crossed the finish line told you all you needed to know what was going to happen, he looked as thou he was guilty of a crime. Merc' making GR car lighter so he can go faster than LH and not 'expecting' to be on the podium let alone win the race. Merc' knew that they would have their cars weighed post race and GR would be disqualified. Many comments like this on various media sights.

And I bloody wondered why Toto was so underwhelmed. I expected him to jump for joy. I don't know. He knew the score though. Gee. People keep saying Formula 1 is no good. It is boring. Bullshit. This year has so much drama. Teams. Drivers. I am just trying to keep up with all the stories right across the field. Who is staying or leaving ? Audi getting set to make their entrance into the sport. You name it.

Georgie Boy claimed after being disqualified he was proud to have crossed the line in 1st position. He just doesn't"t get it does he? He crossed the line in an illegal car! It was tantamount to cheating! (although he would have been unaware of the fact). With all the information available and realtime computer calculations happening, someone in his team would have known that at the end of the race the car would have been underweight. For goodness sake do teams not instruct their drivers pick up rubber on the warm down lap on a "normal track" in order to make sure they comply with the weight regulations. Spa is an anomaly insomuch the track is so long they don't do a warm down lap. Hence the importance of the car being within the weight regs as it crosses the line - there is no rubber pick up. Don't feel proud George, you were never meant to cross the line first. That is saved for legal cars. Karma my friends Karma! 🙏🙏🙏

@@Champ-DMVRam93 Why? Mercedes is not invested in the "Hamilton is a great driver"-myth anymore since he chose to expose himself at Ferrari too. The most sensible strategy for the team would be to have Hamilton on the much quicker tyres fend off Piastri and order Hamilton not to attack Russell. But Mercedes still did him that favour of letting him fight Russell for the win, and he failed.

1.5kg or 2lbs isnt much and i do wonder if .5lbs loss per tire cost George there compared to everyone else. I personally didnt know so much strategy goes into these races?! I thought it was just pitting and choosing what tire. Maybe George could have finished 4th or 5th if had pitted for a 2nd time like everyone else? I do wonder about that time when Lewis won Silverstone with a blown hard tire? Maybe the min weight regs were different back then?

1.5 kg = 3.3 lbs = only 0.2% of 798 kg minimum weight so not a lot of effect on race performance but still disqualifying.
