His posture, hands in pockets, when he's singing make him look so at ease and helps bring calm, grace, and intimacy to the song and his delivery of it. Beautiful voice.

His version: Once I lived a life of a milionaire Spending my money, I didn't care Always taking my friends out for a good time Spending every nickel on gin and cheap wine But just as soon as my dough got low I couldn't find a friend nor place to go If I ever get my hands on a dollar again I'm gonna squeeze it I promise I'll squeeze and make that eagle grin Nobody knows you When you're down and out In your pocket not one penny All your friends you haven't any But just as soon as you get back on your feet again Everybody is your long lost friend It's mighty strange but without a doubt Nobody knows you when you're down and out Nobody knows you when you're down and out

If this man was born in a different generation he'd probably be really famous. This generation can't appreciate real good music and singer.
@giraffeproductions91364 жыл бұрын
Exactly. These days no one can appreciate people like Leslie Odom Jr because they’re attracted to music that people don’t even have to TRY to make because of auto tune. Leslie is literally so talented but people in this generation just appreciate popularity and not talent.

It depends upon your circles. If you tend to go to movies and listen to pop music, you probably won't hear about him. However, if you're into theater where he's well respected, I believe you'll be very familiar with his work. His voice is exceptional and, like he said, his phone is now ringing because people want to hear and see him. He deserves it. Very talented.

I hadn’t heard of Leslie Odom,Jr and then I heard him sing “Autumn Leaves” on Tony Bennett’s 90th birthday celebration on tv. I was in awe. That song was popular when I was in high school (Roger Williams on the piano.) Leslie’s version is outstanding. Such a smooth voice and so beautiful !

Great performance! For a long time I preferred Josh White's version, more recently I've been more into Eric Clapton's or Nina Simone's renditions. I guess now I have another one to add to the mix. I love songs like this one, or Summertime is another great example, where all the greats give it a go.
