My wife of 37 years recently went on strike, this left Daddy with all the cooking chores for my two sons my granddaughter who is 2 years old and my grandson who is one year old. Thanks to this video they will get a big surprise tonight. Lol Thank you very much ma'am for the chicken coaching

Sounds like she put up with a lot of crap and gave you many opportunities to help out. Sad it took you 40 years to help your wife.

I do one or two chickens on the rotisserie per year and always pull up this video to watch! Thanks!

Just a tip for tying off at the end. When beginning the knot, go right over left and under two times, before doing the left over right and under. The greater friction caused will hold the cord tight for the second half of the knot. I do a lot of crafts! Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip! I've been trying to truss up my birds for the longest time, which was a reason why I never did a rotisserie chicken at home😫. The steps were easy to follow and no pieces were flopping around as the chicken slowly turned on the spit👍🏽.

Thank you for posting this. Very Helpful. I just tried this and it works, except I had trouble tucking the wing tips. I ended up tucking them under the string on top.

I like to give the string a quick soak or run under water until it's nice and wet. I find it keeps the string nice and tight before you get it tied off xd

I've done whole chickens in my regular air fryer before, however today is the first time I'm doing it in rotisserie mode. Your video was helpful, thank you. Wasn't tight but hopefully it'll be okay. Thank you!

I found that i needed double the string she specified, and then added extra string on top of that, b/c it was not held tightly together like hers. I think wrapping string around it over and over works better than any video I have seen yet, as trussing chickens based on video instructions has never worked for me, unless I add LOADs of extra string. This video only told me how experts do it, now how I could successfully truss the chicken as the string kept sliding from the points she specified. So, this doesn't work for everyone.

This is an excellent well-made video. I don't know how many times I've tried to view a how to video only to get an intro about history or the like that's nothing related to what I needed to do. You need to take up plumbing and carpentry so you can help me with those, too! =) Thank you so much.

You have no link to this in the advised site in your manual. In fact there is nothing about this on the site the manual suggests. Well done. My new Hamilton Beach 6 slice toaster oven/air fryer is next to impossible to use by following instructions in the manual. Defective machine? Certainly dangerous as a chicken is difficult to mount on the rotisserie using the tool provided...in fact impossible. Since it says to heat the oven first, how would you suggest I put the chicken on the rotisserie using my bare hands. Our dinner is now 2 hours late and after buying probably my 10th Hamilton Beach prroduct. Instructions here are great. How mant other sites to I need to search to get proper and complete instructions? I wonder how I will fare trying to get my dinner out of this dangerous machine if it ever does get cooked.

This is very useful! We have your countertop convection oven that does rotisserie too, and I wish you'd also posted a vid of putting the damn chicken *on* the rotisserie, because for some reason it always seems to flop around on there! :p Otherwise, I have no complaints - the chickens always turn out juicy and delicious, whether I roast them on the convection setting or (try to) put them on the rotisserie! Thanks!

This way is ok if your doing it in an oven, however, to get that perfect bird! Why don't you tie off the drums and put the string thru the cavity and then tie off the wings. Therefore, your string on the outside will not be an issue and you'll have a perfect bird. Don't forget to cut the string within 15 minutes from removing from the BBQ or the string will stick like glue...good luck and thank you

What kind of string is that? It would be helpful if she had told us what to use.

Butchers Twine.
@kevinmiller30842 жыл бұрын
Any cotton string works. You want something the thickness of yarn, less than shoelace, much more than thread. Most grocery stores and department stores sell cooking twine. I've also found it at the dollar tree.

Probably one of the worst techniques for trussing I have ever seen. Running string across the main meat parts restricts juice flow. A good truss will plump the breast up. This woman works for a food machine maker. Try watching the way a chef does it. Alton brown has a good way of doing it as do many others.
@Tweeter487 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is 2 years after you posted, Brian, but I want to thank you for advising to look at a chef's method. I found a much better method that doesn't go across the breast and hope my first attempt at rotisserie chicken is a success.

I'm an apprentice chef and this is how we were shown how to truss by our educator.
@jennieblue53465 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Brian, for the Alton Brown suggestion, and I notice he does NOT truss across the breast. Even 3 years later, his method is great: clear, simple instructions, no slippage and a nice snug truss for rotisserie or pan roasting. Alton. Is. The. Best.
