Ian, this was a very helpful technique video. As an idea for a similar video, it would also be helpful if you could explain how to achieve vibrato on single notes as well. The concept seems easier than actually making it happen with your fingers. Thank you!

Awesome amount of infomattion on 3 distinct subjects and in such a short lesson!, some online teachers spend longer on each part an manage to convey less useful information.

Thank you Stitch...some new insights here for me for sure. Anyone else getting audio/video synchronization issues on his videos? 1 or 2 second delay for me over here in Seoul. Also, the intro of he video shows twice.

Everyone teaches the "you have to bend from the elbow and pivot" yet none of them actually play that way...everyone I've seen use the hand this way to bend!✊🏼

Hi Ian, absolutely love the videos, they really are taking me places, that I never thought I would get to. (in a good way) No questions are stupid, right, well here's one that I think will break that rule. In your video "How to ACTUALLY USE a Pentatonic Scale For Blues Soloing", we're soloing in the scale of Em Pentatonic. Should I stay in that key for the 4 and 5 chords ( A and B) or should be I switching and use Am Pentatonic and Bm Pentatonic respectively?

I am having trouble staying interested in watching tutorial type videos,so much like work. "Stich" Yours are pulling me in. I really need to watch these type videos. I am thinking about buying a DVD tutorial set. The cost is $150.00 for a very complete "learn guitar" set (from Gibson) Tell me to "stick with Stich" and hold off on the DVD purchase. Oh, I play acoustic (1 year in) I have a lot of time for practice and book work but need to "buckle down" and do more than 'noodle". I play outside with a laptop and amp (Fishman) The DVD is attractive as they never buffer. I guess I could download lessons from KZbin and solve the buffering issue.

I have a question regarding which muscles are activated during pull offs. From what I understand it is a compound movement which involves both the flexors and extensors in the forearm. The extensor is used to lift the finger off the string, whilst the flexor is used to give the finger a downward force (towards the floor), which effectually plucks the string. Did I grasp this correctly? I a way this is also a contradiction for me, as the use of two opposing muscles/forces will logically cause stiffness in the finger, hindering its mobility. Would you have any thoughts?

Is there any place where all of your videos are presented or listed in some sort of logical order? I see where you did that for the "Blues Primer" series (and I assume any additional videos will be added to the list) but is there a listing for your other lessons? I am not a beginner but am far from advanced and would like to be able to follow you without jumping all over the place. Also, (and this may seem really elementary) what, exactly, does clicking on the "Subscribed" button do? I think when I subscribed there were fewer than 2,000, now it's more than 22,000 but I haven't seen any changes.

Hi Ian. Great lessons! I have been studying and practicing your blues theory and tips with some hammer ons, pull offs and bends. However, the question I have is that some notes that I bend sound awful and other fit nicely. Is there a rule to which notes are premium benders and what to avoid? Thanks. Andy

Ok, here is a question: What's the difference between shuffle and swing in regard to both rhythm and lead? I love Jump/Swing Blues but have trouble getting that feel. Maybe you can help? I'm thinking Ronnie Earl, Duke Robillard, Debbie Davies, Room Full of Blues. What are these people doing that's different to a regular shuffle and how do they do it?
@isaiah30v8
@isaiah30v8 8 жыл бұрын
Can you play a simple blues progression with a regular shuffle feel and then play the exact same progression and make it swing? I'm thinking the notes you play don't even make a difference. Maybe I'm wrong! If it is possible I would really like to understand how it's done!

Ian.. no wonder you are getting flooded with requests and messages.. I am picking up a guitar for the first time and your style and teaching just connect. That being said, for a total beginner, do you have a suggestion of where to start? I haven't watched all your videos yet, but it seems you at least need some experience before jumping onto your method. Do you have any suggested prereq's to do before following you? Or did I just miss the total newbie videos? Thanks man!~

So a pull Off is, essentially, a slight plucking of the string.
