Stich unlocked the doors they’ve been hiding from us. One of the hidden doors Stich opened for me was that modes are simply about the chord position in any given major scale. Once you grasp the simplicity of that concept and begin apply it starting on different chords you will begin to hear all the great tunes that inspired you to play the guitar to begin with. Then create your own tunes. It’s funny because I used to tell people that guitarists aren’t gods, they just know what they’re doing. Watch Stich and become them.

Ian... I'm an intermediate level guitar play who loves the Dead, and the Beatles...been singing and playing rhythm for 8 years now. I stumbled upon your videos yesterday and I may have watched all of them. When you said something about "guitar is about creating and resolving tension around home" my mind erupted like a volcano. I was a good player with a bag of licks and all of sudden I just played the best solo over Touch of Grey probably of my entire life to this point. I thank you... and I think I may be in love with you hahaha

Great vid! I tell my guitar students when they count out the major scale to say 1-2-3-4-5-6-MAJOR 7-8.....because the '7' [flat 7] is between the 6 and MAJOR 7..this really helps the student understand the difference!

Stitch, love this method. It's going to be my focal point for learning all of the notes and keys. Just as an FYI, I was a technical instructor for over 20 years (not important) but during that time I learned that the mind hates a vacuum. IF someone learns a couple of things and there is a gap on how to go from point A to B, the mind WILL put something in there. How far off the mark is determined by the person's overall knowledge of the subject and their ability to make logical/rational decisions. Because of this, knowing the basics or "theory" is critical. How much theory?............enough to prevent the gaps. Thanks again.

at my age it's good to be heard, whether anyone agrees with you or not is completely irrelevant. Love what you did and looking forward to seeing what the second class entails. I'm actually having to work through a couple of mental blocks because of my earlier (like 40 years ago) shortcomings in my musical education.

STITCHHHHHHH, yo dude you are the mannnn.. can i suggest somthing that i think would be extremely beneficial for maybe an upcoming video if we are lucky? I know the caged system only really maps out the same major chord along the fret board dependant on key, but i think it be great if there was a guide showing all 7 diatonic chords in each "shape of the fretboard" as in (ex key of c) C major, d min, e min, F major, G major, a minor and b dim. in the "ballpark" of the C shape, then the A shape, G shape ect. So we can see the 7 chords of the key in convienant distance to the major chord? havent seen ANY vids on it, and think it be a hit. Thank you fr everything you do brutha, peace

However I'd still love to let you know not only have you been a blessing with your teaching, you've also made it possible to defy limitations when it comes to the fret board. I will definitely be purchasing your products...I just hope you have your payment method accept iTunes card because I'd love to have your book on my iPad. Once again you are the best I've seen so far. Even though I play by ear, I've taken time to study music theory by reading but your explanations make the language of music theory the only language I want to speak. Stitch, let's say you are going to do some Major soloing. Is you 'goto' the Major Pentatonic Neverlost, or the Major Diatonic Neverlost? Because I have to choose a different finger to be on the root, and then the pattern that flows off it is different, this seems like a real conscious 'decision' to make in the Neverlost world.
