Just listened to Potter’s first West Ham interview & it’s refreshing to hear a manager that is clear, precise & you can understand every word. There’s no excuses for the players now. This is truly exiting time Hopefully we will see a big improvement for the rest of the season & push on again for Europe next season. Let’s get behind him 100%

The language thing was horsesh*t. Most of our players are foreign, and plenty of managers around the world work without speaking a word of the language of the country they're working in. Lopetegui's English was better than Ranieri's - and he won the league.

I think it's a good appointment. As I said in the live chat he was sacked by Chelsea before their Champions League QF so not a complete failure. From memory he won 11 in 27 in the League, massively better than Lampard's 1 out of 11 in his second tenure. Has a reputation for promoting youth as well. This just may be the GP that the doctor ordered.

One feature that Lopetegui introduced - defenders and goalie playing out from the back instead of hoofing it, might serve Potter well. Apart from that, I think Potter will need some signings in January and he'll need complete control over how the side plays without Sullivan - or the fans - sticking their oar in. If we need to play controlled possession football but tight at the back and not creating a lot of chances, then that's what we should do till the end of the season. We need to evolve.

Didn't want Moyes ( have never warmed to him putting it politely ) , Didn't want Lopetegui ( but warmed to him in his 1st interview ) but the football was dire .Wasn't overly thrilled with the Potter news but did my due diligence , and like what I have read about him and how he works , just hope he can do that at our club .

This is a massive step for Potter which will probably define him as a coach. If he gets this right, he can be recognised as a successful, sought after, PL coach. I'm looking forward to see how he moulds our current players, and particularly who he favours. Lets face facts - Europe was never on the cards this season, even before it started (huge influx of new players and a new unproven head coach to boot!) , and I do not expect it next season either. However, if he is given control and has a say in the players he wants coming in then in a couple of seasons we can start seeing a half decent side, playing the football we have been waiting for. We can grow from that and success will come naturally. COYI

Totally echo everything you said geo and regards friday night there will be a buzz amongst the players and fans and hopefully a performance to go along side but yes i feel as though the shackles of the previous manager have been released to everyones benefit and regarding potters time at chelsea he was the wrong man at the wrong club with the wrong owners in that post abromovich time so lets focus on what he's done and not what he didnt do at chelsea, a very articulate and forward thinking man that im buzzing to have at my club so lets all unite now, fans players and board and move forward

Watched the West Ham video intro……..very very good ________ I think this is the best appointment with who was available (we are never going to buy someone out of a contract)….. I think we can forget the Chelsea time as was a basket club at time he was there ……I think he did well at Brighton and he laid the foundations for de zerbi and was spoken about previously as an England coach…… it could have been a lot worse……and I also think will not worry about using the youth players as has done before and to a point gets a bit of a free hit with using them to the end of the season as he will keep us up and at Chelsea also had experience in dealing with big players/ego s……. I hope I am right

First thing that pleased me was the job description: Head Coach not Manager. I was worried that Sullivan would want to regress, get rid of the TD position, take back control and install a old style manager. Kretinsky, it seems, has some sway and is continuing to drag the club, kicking and screaming, into C21, despite the fact Sullivan was in favour. Second thing I heard was "balance" from GP. I'm hoping we lower our expectations, give him time, and raise our support.
@tylersweet599423 сағат бұрын
I noticed in his press conference when specifically asked about Tim Steidten and his tricky relationships with the last two managers GP didn't address it. Just saying he was looking forward to working with everyone. Maybe he was just being diplomatic or maybe something to read into it?

Feel the same, warming to it quicker than I thought. Watched the interview and felt like it was something to get on board with and give it a chance. Given the backdrop of the mayhem and questionable treatment of JL over the last week, if that reminds you of your family....😂😂

Blimey, he sounds so positive and keen, mentioning getting everyone aligned, something sorely lacking in recent years. I think having time out has properly recharged his battery. The hunger is palpably there. Not one single annoying ‘in the moment’, either. The first difficult moment he swerved well, the Tim Steidten barbed question. I feel he will be an excellent man manager, no bust ups with players, just arms around etc. How refreshing to listen to someone not at all buttoned up and defensive. Wonderful. Perhaps FINALLY we have a Manager we can get behind. I like his intelligence, above all, plus he has a humanity about him. God knows what he makes of David Sullivan, though! 😂
