I carried my Glock 26 Gen4 (warm weather CCW) and my Glock 19 Gen3 (cool weather CCW) for 10 years. I always disliked the stock Glock triggers and cheap plastic sights, and the poor grip texturing (of the Gen3). The finger grooves always worked for me, so never an issue there. I'd spend another $250 per pistol to upgrade their triggers and get quality steel tritium night sights. Both these pistols were highly accurate, totally reliable, and ever so simple to work on. I loved them, once I fulfilled my compulsion to improve them. Then one day at my local range I rented a S&W M&P 9 M2.0 3.6" subcompact, and I was hooked. IMHO the M&P has better ergonomics, much better grip texturing, comes with quality steel 3-dot contrast sights, a 2-slot picatanny rail, matching textured sleeves for using M&P 15-round and 17-round magazines, two 12-round flush fit magazines (1 with a pinky extension), 4 different sized interchangable textured backstrap palmswells, and even though I don't particularly like the stock gritty, hinged trigger (all the grittiness was gone after about 200 rounds), I prefer it to the Glock stock triggers, so much so I've felt no compulsion to upgrade it. I immediately found it easier to shoot the M&P well, and to be more comfortable in my hands, versus my Glocks. So I purchased a new one that day for $470. The M&P offers me a lot more bang for my buck than my Glocks, which I've sold. My M&P has functioned flawlessly for me to date (2,000+ rounds). It isn't as quick and easy to detail strip and reassemble as my Glocks were, but there's plenty of parts availability out there. I've since upgraded the OEM stock steel 3-dot contrast sights to AmeriGlo steel 3-dot tritium night sights. I'm very happy with my decision to go with the M&P M2.0 over my former Glocks. And it's made here in the USA. Good things!

I think they both look nice. But I went with the G 27, Gen 5, front sarations, because I already have two Smith & Wesson Shields. I didn't have a Glock.

I shot the G26 and the 15+1 M&P 2.0 Compact on my most recent range visit. I enjoyed both and they both shot well, but I found the G26 to be even more difficult to manipulate than the Shield Plus. I'm torn nonetheless, but leaning towards the M&P (the cheaper price point is another advantage).
@JacksonWalter7353 жыл бұрын
I prefer the M&P Subcompact but I would understand if someone chose the Glock 26 instead. They're slightly cheaper than the Glock 26 around me, carries more round in the flush fit mag, has better grip texture, better sights, better slide serrations, and a better break on the trigger pull. If I chose the Glock 26 it would be because of the weight, trigger uptake and reset, and how widely available Glock accessories or aftermarket support there is for the Glock. If I was also used to shooting Glocks then the Glock 26 would also be a no brainer.
@cashmoney92562 жыл бұрын
Never tried the G26 but purchased the MP 2.0 subcompact last week and I love it. It shoots very nicely even w the flush fit mag. I may upgrade the sites. I actually like the trigger as is. I upgraded my 4”compact w an Apex but im thinking I’ll leave this one stock since for some reason it feels better to me than the stock trigger on my compact.

Hey H/S! Nice job on compare/contrast. I think you actually shot the S&W better. I have both, love both. I don’t care for the Sig P365 or the SA Hellcat. My hands are too large for those tiny guns. I actually prefer my G19 and M2.0 Compact, as I’m a big guy and can easily conceal them both. In warmer temps, I still like to carry my Shield. But, it all comes down to personal preferences.

@@JacksonWalter735 why does the wife dictate what you buy with your own money? Im glad im not in that style of relationship lol
@JacksonWalter7352 жыл бұрын
@@paladin3116 it's a simple explanation with context. We were closing on a house very soon at the time (so much of our money went to rent before so we might as well invest it in a house) so we're saving up as much as possible for the down payment so we won't have to pay as much long term with interest in the loan our bank approved us for. I already have all of my bases covered with an EDC pistol (my P365xl), plenty of compact size pistols, a few competition pistols, and at the time I just bought a Glock 19x a few months prior to spoil my grandpa for his birthday. I didn't need a new pistol and just wanted either a Glock 26 for days where I didn't want to carry a G19 but wanted mag compatibility (and I wanted to customize it as a fun project). At the same time, I always wanted something a little bigger/more shootable than my original M&P Shield and GunBroker had a very decently priced M&P 2.0 Subcompact. It makes me look extremely reckless and a terrible person if I ended up getting both of these, a great holsters for each, accessories to customize them (such as night sights on the Glock and extra mags since I don't have any for the larger M&Ps), and training ammo to shoot at the range for pistols I didn't really need instead of using all of those resources towards the house we're closing on. I doubt that would have made my wife happy when she was pinching pennies to save up for a bigger down payment. My my wife not being happy also means no fun time 😜and more stress for me so it's better to listen to her this time around.

IMO the S&W at 25 oz empty is far too heavy for pocket carry. In a belt holster it would be OK but still 5 ounces or more heavier is just less comfortable to carry. The Shield + has the flat trigger. It would be nice to use this on the whole M&P series. We're on the the G5 iteration of the G26/G27 come on Glock add the pic rail and while we're at it dump the plastic goofy white outline site and flatten the trigger. I love the "Too scary for KZbin" comment" So true.
The S&W has 30 round fun sticks. And I like the feel of the grip texture and angle much better on S&W then Glock.

For non-collectors, these are in a kind of limbo now. High capacity Micro 9s are a better concealed carry option and compacts are a better do-it-all option.
@Smokey_A3 жыл бұрын
The first advantage to these, at least in the S&W side, is the ability to have a common platform with the bigger pistols, including magazines. If you go to the Shield Plus, then you're buying a bunch of additional range magazines for that gun. Then you've got hand fit for larger hands, where these are better than micro 9's for some. But if you were just going to buy one gun, these are kind of in that no-man's land.
@darylragland15023 жыл бұрын
Yes but I had to really keep the micros super clean constantly or I'd have failures so 26 for me. Plus accuracy with the 26 is unreal and hard to describe for its size. People win idea matches with them. Impossible with a micro. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
