Hammock Camping on a Hill | Muddy and Uncomfortable Night Camping

Martin and I returned to the site of a really challenging camp hoping that it wouldn't be as bad as we remembered.
We were wrong, we did have a great time but with the slope and all the bad weather we have had it was a slippery mess.
I wasn't a bad weather camp and if it had been it would have been terrible.
The Onewind kit is still giving a great bang for the buck and kept me comfy and warm in low single digit temperatures.

Last time I was up there, a cow was using my car wing mirror as scratching post. Those gates vary a lot in design across the country. When I was trekking in the Pennines and Lake District last year I came across gates that self closed with either a string of stones or iron weights. I didn't like the modern ones up to Hadrian's wall because they required two hands to open and close. Maybe they were designed keep the Scots out?? The Pennines was Grouse country where the birds pop up out of the heather and make a right racket. Easy shooting targets. Your camera picks up Martin's song really well. Must feel odd walking up an empty road from Shanklin. There's an old quarry spot at the back of Shanklin I want to visit when the path isn't thick mud.

Brutal that hill, I can see how steep it is. Get Martin to get some 10mm (The hole size) walking stick feet & replace his feet on his chair, I did that and have had minimal sink issues since. Good vid, enjoyed 👍

Glad you had a dry ish one Nobby. This weekend was a bit damp at the great Tommy sleep out for homeless vets at Entice lodges Dunswell,East Yorkshire. But good times are made wi great company 😂
