Hammock Camping tips and hacks: The loofah

Just trying a new piece of ultralight backpacking gear! ;) It's a great hammock and general camping tip that is too good not to share. This idea can be used to turn a loofah into a tarp snakeskin. This is a super easy DIY that you have to add to your hammock camping hacks. Backpacking doesn't have to be something that is super expensive and these diy hammock snakeskins cost about a dollar from Walmart.
Just a note that this is not my original idea. Here's another video on it.

This does work pretty well. It's not easy to find a dark green/olive loofah but they're out there. That's what I use. Very cool to share this trick.

Ha! Went shopping today and picked up a loofah, even found a light grey in color that will go well with my gear. Cut the string and easy peasy!!! Works super well. Thanks much Tim! Bill, from Traverse City!

I'm just now finding this video, I wish I would have stumbled on it a year ago l just got some skins and love them. I'm going to use this hack on my sons set up and see how it works.

It's a nice cheap option. The loofah is fragile but it's a nice organizer.

Very good idea. I got the Hennessy Snakeskin with my Hennessy Hammock setup when I bought it. Theses loofah ones are much cheaper and work just a well as compared to the real ones.........Take care, Bluefin.

I used drainage pipe net filter and made two skins, one for each sidè. Just pull off in opposite directions. The drain pipe netting is stronger and only comes in black so is subdued rather than having bright colors flashing. Thè extra expense is nominal.

I looked into doing this before I bought my snake skin. But decided to just buy one based on how easy the holes on the luffa are to stretch and tear.

Very clever you know I never have slept in a hammock I always just use a tent , I think I'm gonna buy one and try em out ,any suggestions on one .

+House boat Rob I'd start with a cheaper option to see if you like it. Walmart has travel hammocks for about $20. A good midrange option is hobo hammocks for about $45 I think. Good luck!

Works on hammocks too. I had problems stuffing my blackbird xlc into its stuff sack. kept sliding out. Not now with my luffa skin. Bruce from the city of orange in orange county calif.

My current setup doesn't allow for much drying / airflow if I have to pack up in the rain. This has the added benefit of letting the moisture out very efficiently. I'll definitely be trying this!

fantastic idea. That can work with a plethora of items. May turn out to be a staple containing item. Add that it really doesn't add much weight and I am not super concerned with weight as much as hikers. Thanks for the video, really enjoyed. Great tip.

Hey Richard- get the wife to pick one up at the dollar store, with a bag of dry dog food. Fill that thing up with the food, tie up both ends and tie it to a rope. Throw it in the water for a fish attractor!

another great idea. I have been using pvc tube with holes drilled. Loofah are fantastic. Again, I also use old orange and potato netting, which a loofah would work as well for all those usages as well.

I'm rarely so shocked that I rewatch a video just to make sure I saw it correctly the first time. My mind has just blown. I've only recently discovered your channel, really appreciate what you are doing, then I see this....wow!! Time to raid my wife's stuff.
