Camping in South Texas I have found that most bug net hammocks are useless unless they have double bottoms. The mosquitoes just bite right through it. Yes, the pad or sleeping bag stops them, but sometime in the night, you will put some part of your body next to the single layer and you will wake up very itchy.

TexasScout Noneofyourbusiness .... I found the same thing here in Florida. Single bottom hammocks are buffet lines for the mosquitoes. Any body part touching the material is fair game to them. All of my hammocks have double 70D bottoms to them or in the case of the Clark Tropical , just a single layer but it's such thick material the bugs can not bite threw it. The only time I use a single bottom hammock is when the temperature at night will be 55 degrees or lass. Even the bug net is not required in those temperatures. At 55 to 50 degrees our mosquitoes are inactive and not out feeding on campers.

Hi, you setup trap and hammock which one first?

I'm toying with getting this hammock. Wondering if it's worth spending an extra $75 for the Sparrow. I'm willing to pay more up front if it makes an appreciable difference. Any thoughts? Thanks Derek for the review.

Great vid! Thank you! A quick question! Where do feel the ridge line for the hammock first came from?
@DerekHansen6 жыл бұрын
Interesting and hotly-contested question. Many a patent include the infamous (but useful) ridgeline. Hennessy Hammock is one of the first to commercially sell hammocks with ridge lines, but was challenged by Warbonnet Outdoors for the use of it. There are enough previous examples of ridge lines that it's hard to point to who first pioneered its use.

Derek Hansen, your review says that end loops are extra. I believe continuous loops are included, and woopie slings are extra.

@@WanderingFromKansas Correct. They had gone back and forth on that when I was reviewing. They do include the end loops.
