Hammock is going to be the soundtrack of my grief today. I couldn't think of anything better to listen to. I had my dog (Luey) of 10 years put down today. He had a pretty hard life before we got him, the shelter we picked him up from said he was found in the home of his late owner (after she had died) and he was likely abused/neglected prior to his surrender. The shelter he was in was a no-euthanasia shelter, so due this, his breed and his behavioral issues (aversion and aggression to men), he was stuck in a small cage (except for his daily walk) for over 6-months. My wife was a volunteer at the shelter and fell in love with Luey as he had been in the shelter for the longest of all the animals, so she would sit with him on her breaks and make sure he was tucked in at night before she left. Over time she convinced me to meet Luey even though I was clear to her that we were not taking him home. So we took him for a walk around the block where the shelter was located, he was on edge the entire walk, probably afraid that we were going to leave him behind. I will be honest after this first meeting with Luey, I was sure I didn't want him. However, over the following weeks, my wife chipped away at me and I finally agreed to adopt him, but before we could another family took him home. We just thought this is how it is, it wasn't to be, at least he has a home now. Now I haven't mentioned this but Luey was a pretty large hunting (bull arab/bull mastiff) dog so taking him on as a pet was not for the faint of heart, and this came true for him, the family that adopted him had to give him up the following week as they were worried they could not control him and to be honest, he was a big scary boy. This was our chance so we adopted him as soon as we knew he had been returned. I know I didn't want him at first, but he turned into "my" dog almost immediately, I couldn't believe such a big powerful, scary-looking dog could be such a gentle, loving boy, and after living with us for a few weeks he really came out of his shell. Whilst in the shelter he would not play at all, however, once he knew he was in a place he was safe his real self finally showed, that is all he wanted to do..... he also loved us more than anything in world, loved our cuddles. He has been with us through a lot of hard times, life changes and milestones, he was a true constant in our ever-changing lives. I am going to miss having my big beautiful boy sitting at my feet whilst I sit in my home office. I will never forget you Luey xx.

I've been following Hammock for many years now. What these fine people produce is not music, it's a life-altering experience. I'm an absolute music nerd, listen to almost any genre, every day, always on the lookout for new talented musicians, but in all these passing years I was never able to find something quite like Hammock yet. Thank you very much for this experience, this journey full of Melancholy, Joy, Sadness, Depression, Love, Memories, and life itself. Peace.

In some ways Hammock's music is somewhat reminiscent of Vangelis. It's not so much cheerful, more a thoughtful contemplation that takes you into a meditative space.
