I found this group because one of their videos played after a video I was listening to. I was outside playing with my dog and I had music on through the TV (my neighbors love me at times, lol). Hammock came on and stopped me in my tracks. I came back in and listened. It really struck a chord in me, something that music has not done in a long time.

It is so good that you have been contemplating the meaning of life. This is a gift. Right in the heart of that search, is the heart you are made to be close to. Your Father is there. I know because I was dying deep inside, and Jesus brought me to life. Jesus Christ is the way to your Father's heart, and He is the meaning of life. He is life. "The way, the truth, and the life." I listen to this entire video every single night while writing a script. It's perfect because it allows me to dedicate one hour each night to writing. When the video ends, I know that I'm done for the night. I only listen to it when I write the one specific script, it puts me in a mindset and almost becomes a soundtrack to the universe that I'm attempting to create. The songs suddenly become the main characters emotions and dreams. The characters succeed and fail with these songs playing in the background. Thank you Hammock, you have truly inspired an amazing story with your music.

I’ve always thought the name likely refers to an ecological niche of the Deep South. A hammock is stands of trees that grows on a slightly elevated area, often merely a few inches high, surrounded by wetlands in which they could not otherwise live, such as swamps and marshes. Being from the South, these artists would know what a hammock means in terms of nature.
