Having driven an ATV fitted with treads over many miles of beach for work, I can safely say that 1, they are not built for speed, and 2, if a tread comes off there is a mandatory 30 minute break to go through the five stages of grief before screaming into the abyss. Both. I doubt the tyres are any different than you'd get on any other car, but with a lot or torque and a heavy right foot and someone who's deliberately trying to create wheel spin, they'll shed in no time.

Torque is the killer, traction control kicks in quite a lot on my E55, yes Jezza does it on purpose but 5000 miles for rears is normal on mine.
