I had just bought a Hammond SK1-73 Stage Keyboard, and it is awesome!

Can you tell me if there are other sounds such as a chorus, orchestra, etc. Like a work station. Or is it really just a Hammond organ be all. I really just want the Hammond Organ but with all the synths work stations out there I was wondering if that is packaged into this unit. Also, I assume no speakers are built in, but can any amp be used and also create the Leslie through it even if it isn't a Leslie speaker?. Thank you !!.

A mistake I usually see with the SK1/2 is that the player never seems to grasp the idea that a volumepedal is essential to create the sounds a *real* Hammond is capable of. They also obviously never have used a real Leslie, as this sim doesn't do it justice by a mile. The best thing to do would be to disable that horrid internal sim, run the output into a Neo Ventilator. Thát way (ánd with a volumepedal...) it can sound pretty decent.

Nice one... cannot decide guys Hammond sk-1 or nord electro 6d 61? I am using the hammond organ quite a bit, but also need that rhodes sound, some piano, continental, some strings sound... I really love the melotron sim, piano, rhodes sounds on the Electro, but I prefer the hammond organ sound and leslie sim on sk-1 (well at least from the clips)... now normally I would go check them out and compare, but they do not have them stock currently and based on their page, will not have for the next two months or so and I need it for life playing, so unfortunately I cannot compare at the store (I can order only from Thomann, but cannot go to try it out). Anyone any experience with these two and how they compare? I was mostly using software for all the sounds at home, but now I need to play it live and want an easy set up with one keyboard. Besides my old M1 is in no condition for gigging, so I need a new machine anyway. Thanx a bunch for opinions... (I know I cannot go wrong with neither one, but just for comparison :) )

A little bit worried, reading stuff about the Hammond SK's being made in Japan and such.. They don't seem very popular, no one locally sells them. Very few stores actually carry them, a handful in the USA it seems. Don't get me wrong, I love Hammonds but.. I don't know. I want it, but at the same time, I have to be skeptical.

Nothing replaces the real electromechanical relationship on a Hammond tone wheel organ or Wurlitzer electrostatic reed organ. NOTHING

But unless you are keith emerson or something, good luck with taking a real Hammond out on the road. I agree with you mostly. But the Crumar mojo is amazing at emualating A real Hammond. Its almost impossible to hear any differance between a mojo and a real Hammond. My father owns one pluss leslie, and it sounds far more superior this little thing here. Sorry about my english, i am Norwegian.
@paulj0557tonehead8 жыл бұрын
Snuppeluppen søppelsopp Of course you can take a real Hammond on the road, and Keith Emerson took the smallest Hammond tone wheel organ on the road- the Hammond L100, which if you are Norwegian there should be PLENTY of L100's since they were made in that area. Anyway, I played in bands in the 80's and 90's and whenever the bands I was in had gigs, inevitably there were AT LEAST 3-4 people in the band, and at least 1 member had a truck or van. And as a GUITAR PLAYER my own amps were just as heavy and took up the same space as a little REAL HAMMOND TONE WHEEL ORGAN. In fact, if you have ORGAN DOLLIES you can make very fast work of loading and unloading a little L100 ( M100's, and M3's are much heavier). Look it doesn't matter if you play DIGITAL Hammond emulators LIVE. Personally if I was gigging today I might too, but I was a guitar player that would NEVER PLAY EMULATED GUITAR AMPS. And since at the time ( I started playing/collecting organs in 1996) I WOULD take my M3 and Leslie 122 to gigs. To me and our band members, yes it was more trouble, but we all worked real jobs that required far more from us physically than loading up and unloading AN ORGAN! So we thought of it this way. 1. WE ARE PLAYING THE REAL DEAL, and 2. OUR FANS GET TO SEE A REAL HAMMOND AND LESLIE, not just some little 10Lb keyboard! These days though people ARE oblivious because EVERYONE seems to gig with NORDS,SK1's, CRUMAR, etc. etc. I have 11 organs and can move them areound very easily. Just like in the 30'-80's, it became second nature to move organs, not headaches. It goes with the business and today I think giving an audience a real Hammond or Wurlitzer ( my favorite- the WURLITZER ELECTROSTATIC CONTINUOUS FREE-REED organ 1953'-1961').
@ecuadorrealestatevideos10975 жыл бұрын
I know this was posted a long time ago, but get over yourself. After gigging for 45 years, my back says a quality clone is spectacular. I carried a Hammond for 15 years and my back is trashed. Give me a 20lb clone any day.
@adamrobinson86202 жыл бұрын
I admire your passion, and if it’s a core part of your sound it makes sense. Just like no digital piano matches the grands that Elton John, Billy Joel or Tori Amos use. Or the real electric pianos you will see on various stages. But for what a lot of people do, the logistics of a small keyboard that does reasonable copies of all those in a compact package that easily plugs into PA is an advantage.

+jordan reed Definitely go for the "best" sound [or whatever sound you love the most, if something stands out much more to you ; whatever it is ]. A few keys less doesn't mean anything, especially if you are beginning. If you love the sound it will add to the joy of your playing.
