Everyone always says “Canolo not being the one to actually get them the photo means his involvement in the story can’t happen”. Dude, it’s as simple as this: Rather than actually getting La Squadra the photo, he simply tells them that it exists, and points them in the direction to go. The anime never specified HOW La Squadra learned about the photo, or about Trish’s existence. Canolo can be behind both of these things, and unlike in the book, where he took an active role in sabotaging the boss for the fun of it, now, he gets the exact same outcome, without even having to lift a finger. That’s less work, to get the same outcome, which fits with Canolo’s characterization perfectly.

@@Hamon_Beat Canolo also assisted Sorbet and Gelato with their investigation of the Boss, so even if they can't manage to keep the photo plotline, they can still fall back on that because nothing in the anime contradicts it. Fugo's anime backstory is the bigger problem.

@@SunderlandAlexis Actually the backstory could be added changing it a bit: give him the backstory with the grandmother but set it BEFORE the events of the flashback and change it a bit: make him have the grandmother, instead of a teacher make it be another kid that mocks Fugo, Fugo responds violently, but the teachers split it off before things escalate... later the shit with the professor happens and Fugo gets sent to trial.... yes it's a big change, but it sets up Fugo's character in the same way: he loves her grandma, and he has a violent outburst over her death not being treated with respect. It doesn't need to be a replica of the original, it just needs to have an impact and serve the same purpose. also, PHF is rather long, so i would be fine if DP shortened it by erasing the scenes that contradict the anime and just move forward with the main plot.

It makes me really sad that Fugo wasn't exploded more as a character. Specially having so much potential to grow and improve. And I loved that the novel focused a lot on Fugo realising why he didn't get on the boat, what really happened to him and actually learning why he stand is the way it's and almost accepting his most primal side. And not gonna lie, makes me sad that it will probably never happen because it's not technically cannon. Because overall the novel is great. It gives you more information about how Passione worked and why they were so successful, it shows you the state of Italy after Giorno became Capo and even expands the story of other lovable side characters from other arcs. Like Massimo Volpe being Tonio's brother. And it has some of the most interesting characters in any season of JoJo. Angelica, VIttorio, Massimo, Vladimir, hell even Cannolo. And I love Rohan as much as the next guy but I do believe some of his stories are a bit..... Shallow. But hey, animating a good story that has character growth, an actual story, lovable and interesting characters and that also expands on the existing world while also giving more context to other lovable characters? Nahhh, let's animate Rohan investigating his grandma's bag for 16 pages. CONTENT.

I think I kinda prefer that though, a lot of the charm of it comes from the author’s writing style that wouldn’t translate well to animation. there is one detail that i have noticed while rewatching golden wind that may or may not be another clue or a reference at phf. around the black sabbath arc (i don't remember if it is before or after) bruno explains to Giorno how passione works, and a hierarchy table is shown where the gang is split up into a bunch of groups with rather generic silouhette. if you pay close attention to this screen, you will be able to see the silouhette of la squadra, and be able to identify all of them. the thing is, one of the higher groups on that screen has 4 members with different silouhette, at first i tought it was the elite guards, but by looking closely the silouhette doesn't match and one the guards is missing. i havo not taken the time to actually translate what the name of the group is, but since they were so high up in passione i think it might be the drug quartel. i'm gonna try to go translate it and edit this comment for the results. (also sorry for the grammar). edit: so i've translated most of what's on that hierarchy table, and sadly, what i tought was the drug quartel is actually ''Bodyguard shere'', i also noticed that one the the silouhette was hidden by the text. those silouhette don't really looks like the guards tho. i also looked at the other groups, and the one that is named ''drugs section'' has 6 members with generic silouhette to my disapointment...

I listened to the fan Audiobook a few weeks ago and I have to say, while I do like the novel a lot, I think it might be a bit underwhelming to people who have been hearing about it for so long. In my opinion, the framework for a great story is definitely present but it suffers a lot from being a single novel, there is a lot of buildup and imo a pretty rushed payoff. The ending while extremely cathartic, is incredibly anticlimactic for all the buildup it gets. The new characters, while interesting, exist purely to facilitate Fugo's redemption and really don't get to do much. Personally I think it would make a better film than an OVA series unless DP really wanted to expand upon the material. I do want an adaptation to happen, but I'm not going to cry a river if it doesn't because honestly the book isn't *that* amazing, it's just pretty good.

I really love purple haze feedback. I read the novel borrowing from the library canolo is the one who spilled the information about the boss to sorbet, so I'm counting on that. his grandmother? nah, dp already made their choice. however, the biggest problem about the novel is the SHAMELESS. in the anime, the gang respected fugo's choice and fugo was worried about the gang's future. THIS SCENE IS DESCRIBED COMPLETELY OPPOSITE IN THE NOVEL. this is why i kinda gave up my hope on phf.

I guess that PHF and GHGR can be still animated, if contradictions of novel with anime are changed in favor of anime as an official source. Fugo's backstory from the anime could be extended to his granny, which would give his character more depth. Fugo might be not the one to recruit Abbachio but to be the one, who could help Abbachio to become accustomed to Passione. There is also a potential to show, why Abbachio is so scared of Purple Haze, as he could be actually the one who saw its effects unlike Narancia and Mista. The guy who was forced by Risotto to restore the photo could be killed for trying to contact other Passione members and calling for help or simply for disobedience. As a photo was still not restored completely or deleted by the killed Passione member, Risotto would have to contact Cannolo Murolo. Unlike PHF, I don't know much about GHGR, as I haven't read it yet but extra story about battle in Venice and more of Fugo's screentime would be awesome. Both PHF and GHGR have interesting characters and stands I would love to see animated. Additionally, I would love to watch prequel series about La Squadra and their missions within Passione. Anime did a lot to make La Squadra team members more than faceless one-time foes like most of Part 3 ones. Their own prequel series could give more depth to hitman team members, as well as give us a look at stands of Sorbet and Gelato, more funny scenes with Formaggio (I absolutely LOVED his battle with Narancia), more dreadful charm from Risotto Nero and, most of all, to show a huge contrast of La Squadra with Bucciarati's team. I am not expecting DP to animate anything (besides SBR and DMQ lol) but everyone has a dream. And who knows, maybe one day a dream will come true.

And an anime movie is significantly cheaper to make then an anime TV series, all things considered. Because PHF is more or less a sequel to Golden Wind or almost a "second finale"... People are going to want to see it. Especially if Araki assists with writing the script... Based on that... Yeah... It'd rake in the dough. A lot moreso then the Rohan Ovas, to put matters simply.

That, and DP is doing separately sold OVAs and not the entirety of Rohan's adventures, which makes the purchase a lot more niche. Plus, PHF is the highest rated of all the side stories. And again, PHF is a sequel of sorts. Which means that it greatly enhances the narrative of part 5 and answers the question of "what happened after Diavolo's defeat.". My point is that it would fit into the format of a movie quite well, which in turn would make it an easier purchase then having to find each of the OVA DVDs for Rohan. It's one purchase versus several.

After watching the video. Yeah, I'm not certain I fully agree with your points. Araki ASKED Kadono to write PHF and it has NOT been confirmed NON-canon. Obviously this doesn't mean it IS canon but rather we just cannot say strongly. As for contradictions, they are all so insignificant and easily edited. None of them seem to be related to major story beats enough to make an adaption difficult. Now I still don't think it's likely PHF will get adapted, the rights are all over the place, and it would require some all new art since PHF is a light novel instead of a manga. I don't see the extra work and money needed getting put into it.

Changes to PFH I think will be needed and won't contradict too much Abbacchio's recruitment: I think they can keep the scene of fugo talking to Abbacchio in prison but fugo will fail to recruit him so he let's him out of prison only for him to tell Bruno and Bruno will try Fugo's backstory: this one is the most difficult to prevent contradictions but I think they could keep his grandma in but when she pasts away and fugo hears about it he gets upset and pissed (maybe throw a few books in his room or something) and when professor Pedo arrives he said he heard about Fugo's passing and says it's good that she's dead or something and this could be treated as some kind of deleted scene For me the final scene in part 5 was sort of the beginning of giorno like a month after diavolo's deaths so of course Fugo wouldn't be there The photo: ok real talk this is gonna be a stretch So again they could do it as somewhat of a deleted scene Or during the bluray releases they add this scene of them taking the photo (this one I think won't happen) Or three it'll be something that happen shortly after they leave the docks In terms of Cannolo I can't think of anything unfortunately I hope it does get animated and do welcome it If you have any ideas on how they could add purple haze feedback into the story lemme know Also golden heart golden ring is a Canon story meaning it's more likely to be animated

It is because, as I said, they are acknowledging his place in the story. They had the opportunity to add a small scene with him, they could have picked anything. That's what they chose. It also doesn't help that in PHF Fugo is thinking about Narancia's death half the time. Why would the writers risk confusion if they were going to adapt PHF anyway? It is almost as if that scenes whole purpose was just to tie up the development between Fugo and Narancia really quickly. To try and give a satisfying conclusion in the shortest way possible.
