talent is something that is expressed through the process of the challenge, meaning if in the game you show that you are better/more athletic/stronger and it bears out in the film, then you are talented... if you have all those attributes but you cant win games or your play is not good, as in, you cant complete passes regularly or you throw excessive int.. i argue that you not talented, you are just athletic.. stop calling people who don't play football good talented.. they are just athletic.

I thought Brock Purdy was the real deal in that Dolphin game a few years ago when under an intense pass rush I just see a mass of guys and an arm above them throwing a bullet to the right receiver for about 15 yards. I thought WTF ??? He played a good game and seemed to get better every week with no b.s. attitude. I watched Montana weekly back in the day and he had ok arm strength but he had brains. Brains are what make the greats not arm strength. I can't believe the 49ers were so crazy about drafting Lance and ended up with Purdy.

Purdy is falling into his true talent. He's becoming elusive and taking opportunities to scramble when the pocket breaks down or sees the sea part in front of him. This just adds to his leadership, great passing ability, and football IQ. He's a real "Johnny Football" without the bad habits.

I remember that 5-0 start with Jimmy G. The difference is that Brock Purdy actually produced. Purdy came back even better than the year before. Jimmy G was carried even so much that Shanahan didn't even trust Jimmy to throw the ball in the playoffs. Shanny leaves Purdy unleashed.

@KING-MUFFASA No. If you watch his highlights for the previous seasons, he does scramble when necessary. The difference is that Purdy is more accurate, his throws give the receivers a chance to run after catch. That is huge. That's why Coach Shanahan trusts Purdy not like Jimmy. On top of that Jimmy was plagued with injuries.

You made several of the most sound observations in this video. For example: (1) His extreme self-confidence and comfort as shown by his relaxed laughter before this Patriots' game or when crediting the Rams' DC after the last game. (2) Why Brock almost always has an open field ahead of him whenever he sprints left or right out of a muddy pocket. (3) His arm is more than good enough to be a franchise QB because his arm strength is in the context of his several elite gifts/traits: (self-trust, processing speed, sneaky athleticism, etc.).

It took me that wildcard game against Seattle his rookie season to say, " yup, he's the real deal." He played amazing prior, dont get me wrong, but you want to see how he responds in certain situations and i think by that wildcard game you pretty much seen it all from him. How quick was his release, does he scramble well, was he accurate, how does he respond to blitzes, to crowd noise, does he panic, is he a leader, does he throw off platform,, how does he throw on the run, does he go through progressions, does he make the proper read. Every question answered rather quickly. And then of course he cemented that last year. And he in fact STILL GETTING BETTER. Truly amazing to watch Brock Purdy. My eyes see Drew Brees with athletic quickness. Hes currently on pace to to throw for 4,800 yards on just 519 attempts. If this defense holds up this year you can bank on Brock Purdy once again being in the MVP race. Being a top 3 QB in the league would be undebateable .

Really at what point does a "cannon" of an arm get qbs in to trouble? Trying to fix mistakes/fit windows because of self perceived arm talent? Brock seems to know what his arm can and cant do and if hes late to a read hes not trying to get it off with "zip" to try and fit it into a closing window, instead hes already looking to his next read or scramble. Yet he can still fit a rope into the second level to a crossing WR when it has to happen. At one point today he had 11 completions for 220 yards with minimal YAC. that is nuts in the current NFL when on the same day there was a QB who had 8 completions for -7 yards at one point. (bo nix). Brock has plenty of arm talent with an elite ability to get through reads quickly and also has a rapidly developing pocket awareness that seems to be one of the best in football. I think his trajectory is only limited by his teams awareness, his coaches utilization of him and most importantly him keeping himself humble in the game and not trying to make low percentage throws when hes hot, as we saw today with the endzone int.

Wait so 53 yd dimes dont count as "Elite Arm"? regardless of how you try to qualify your reasoning of his lack of arm talent, he still has the power to make long, accurate throws. This isn't a "Praise Purdy video", it is a backhanded compliment. You should open a gas station for how much gas-lighting is being dished out.

I think what they mean by "elite arm" is that Purdy needs a lot of momentum / windup compared to say Josh Allen for a deep pass. To me that is more a strength than a weakness for Purdy as he doesn't have the superman complex. Josh Allen can skate by with ignoring the basics and get himself into stupid situations.
@guyhaberman
@guyhaberman 22 сағат бұрын
the guy claiming "gas-lighting" usually isn't one you can have an honest convo with... but yea bro... if you are arguing he has an elite arm then basically all of your opinions are invalidated. It's objective, its not debatable. That's okay - he does other stuff great. This video is a compliment to the other stuff he does.
@BadxMike
@BadxMike 18 сағат бұрын
@@guyhaberman is it really subjective when you put qualifiers on what you determine is an “Elite Arm”? Because, you have qualifiers, you can now apply it to all QB’s. Which means in your metrics you now have constant that could make your parameters place other elite arm’d QB’s there with Purdy. I would say it is definitely gaslighting when you make us think we are crazy when we all watch him throw 30+ yard dimes constantly or throw through windows barely as wide as the ball itself accurately, then attempt to convince us that “he does not have an elite arm.” I’m am definitely up for debating these facts. Even better a comparison. Let’s talk about competition percentage on passes 30+ yards Purdy is at 68.9%, how about Josh Allen, widely considered a “Elite Arm”. He sits at 69.3%, what about Lamar Jackson, at a 65.6% I am 100% open to any debate where you tell me that the 0.4% difference make Purdy’s arm not elite. And lastly, if without a doubt, if you can prove it beyond a reasonable doubt I will gladly admit my error. But, with your (assumed) definition of elite arm, is inherently bias. His team wins because of him. Not the other way around. As so many have argued. I can debate that too. While the comment was funny disrespect was not the intention. But, it was, as I said, a back handed compliment. Like me telling my wife. Yes, those shoes look great on you but they are ugly as sin! It still equates to me saying “hey wife, you’re wearing ugly shoes”. *source: www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/josh-allen-accuracy-on-passes-greater-than-30-yards (insert name with a hyphen as space)

Your point about QBs leaving the pocket early is a valid one. Someone did a breakdown of Jalen Hurts last season when the 49ers rolled over them. Might have been Chase Daniels or Baldy, can’t quite remember but they showed how Hurts on 4 or 5 occasions missed an open receiver simply because he escaped the pocket prematurely. Had he waited another half a second each time he would have had an open receiver. You almost never see Brock do that.

Yet his numbers been up there with the elites since he became a starter. Come on He leads the league in passing yards in 4 games this season. Just accept it, just cause he isn’t fast like Lamar or hurts doesn’t make him not elite. It’s his natural processing and to feel the pocket under pressure as a nfl QB. I mean he showed what he can do with his legs in the nfc championship game if that matters.

Yeah it wasn’t his best performance but dude put up 4,280 yards and 31 TDs last year on only 444 passing attempts. That was 20th in the league for attempts but 5th in yards. For yards, every other quarterback in the top 15 besides cj stroud and Lamar Jackson had over 100 more attempts than Purdy. Seems elite to me

@@LargeJeffrey exactly. His numbers been consistent with or without his main “weapons”. Purdy is elite, people just can’t believe it due to his draft status. If he was picked at 3rd instead of trey lance, whole NFL world would be praising him.

@@_JayPyrotechnicsI'm not a football pro, but what about many of the QBs who were selected early? Where are they today? Brock went from being Mr. Irrelevant to Mr. Relevant. And that's why there are enough haters out there. Prejudiced hostility, seeing him as an opponent, a rival.
