Hello, I'm Emma - I'm a palace host here at Hampton Court Palace. So I basically stand in all the rooms and give information to all the visitors about the Palace here. I look after the objects on display and I make sure that we're all safe and informed here at Hampton Court. Hampton Court is one of the places in Richmond where you can come and witness 500 years of history.
So here at Hampton Court, the big drawof course is the Tudor side of the palace. We have the great hall and the famous haunted gallery, we also have the apartments of William III and Mary II, and also the Georgian influence on the palace through Queen Caroline. In the gardens we have the infamous maze, we also have the Magic Garden - a children's playground for everyone to visit, and then we have the entirety of the garden for you to peruse at your leisure.
So Hampton Court Palace was originally bought by Cardinal Wolsey in the 1500s, he designed it with Henry in mind - always wanting it to be a home away from home for him. Henry then took over Hampton Court Palace in around 1528 when he decided to build upon it, including things like the Great Hall and The Great Watching Chamber. We also have the history of several other Kings and Queens here including William III and Mary II, and the Georgians so George I, George II and Queen Caroline.
We cover really 500 years of history at this palace and you can definitely see it in the architecture. We have everything from Tudor to Stuart to Georgian and even Victorian influence. At Hampton Court we offer plenty of events. We have the Ghost Tours here, tours about the state apartments, and the Kings and Queens that have lived here, we also have the Tudor Kitchens, of course, where we have fires going pretty much everyday, and we even have Tudor cooks who come in and cook some meat for us and try out Tudor recipes. We also even have things like the music festival where we have quite big names coming in to perform here, we have the tulip festival 'Floramania', the Garden Show done by RHS, we also have the ice rink at Christmas so it of course as you can tell there are so many reasons why you should come and visit us at Hampton Court.
We would love to have you so that we can share with you the history of the past 500 years - you'll walk in the same footsteps as Henry, William III, Elizabeth I and Mary II and of course, you should come and take in our wonderful Gardens including our maze, which is incredibly famous and we hope to see you on the other side of that. We regularly have exhibitions here. At the moment it is the Golden Glory exhibition - the story of Henry VIII and Frances I ?? at the clock of gold.
