The junior defensive back at Hampton University revealed his truth in an emotional social media post that went viral. I remember when I first told my mom I was gay . That was the hardest day of my life , at the time . She wasn’t onboard either . But as I grew older , she realized that this is who I am and there was nothing what she could do about it . But now she’s accepting of it and even cracks gay jokes with me and I just love it . I love this young man’s story . It’s very inspiring.

Congrats. Coming out is always tough, but in football..... I can't imagine. It takes a lot of bravery. There were a lot of questions about how his mom handled it, & that's fine, but what I really wanted to know is how his teammates treated him. His story is unique & that's the angle I wish Tamron would have taken. All coming out stories have the parent angle. Hopefully he'll do lots more interviews with the football story. Byron, I think, from now on the stands are going to be packed with new fans. You're one hell of a good looking guy.
