Hampton University | Interview with Dr. Roland Carter

Join us in celebrating Dr. Roland Carter, a remarkable individual who has made significant contributions to both the Hampton University community and the world. At Hampton University's 2024 Founder's Day, Dr. Carter was recognized with an honorary doctorate for his exceptional achievements and dedication. The Ogden Hall stage was also renamed in his honor, marking his tremendous impact on the university.

Roland Carter was a mentor to my father at Hampton as was Mr. Flax. My father Class of '71 would practice at Clark Hall with the Crusaders and my mother worked in Dubois as a grad student and I would run and play between the two. Hearing the choir singing from Clark Hall is a Hampton pillar. Thank you Mr. Carter for helping to mold my father's musical abilities. An honor far too long overdue 💙🤍⚓

This is better than the tape of the Founder’s Day service I have been looking for to shear with classmates,’58, & HAMPTONIAN unable to attend. The University honors for Roland “Marvelous” Carter is long overdue. I love him, as many, for his music Genius, what he did for the Hampton U choir as well as the Negro Spiritual & his legacy. HALLELUJAH!!
