Sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat. My last Dwi was 13 years ago. Haven't driven since. I went to treatment, jail, did community service, intensive probation, then regular probation, probably close to $100,000 all in on 3 DWIs. (First 2 we're from 20 years ago) I've done all that, and now, after having had my life completely ruined, and having almost built back a new and better, sober life, I go to get my license and bam! 3 years of interlock! I've been sober for 8 years now! It literally never ends! I never hit or hurt anyone. I just wanted to drive home. I'm not even a felon. I blew a .10, a .12, and another .12. it's truly unbelievable. I could have committed all sorts of heinous violent crimes and been free and clear by now, but not DWI. This is the definition of cruel and unusual punishment.

it sounds like your minamizing what you did. i get it im in the same boat, but you have to take responcibilty. i dont think she should have it because it wasnt required when she got her dui. if she had of paid her fees and fines she could have drove and wouldnt have it but because it took time she has to have it.. that doesnt make sence. I was actually told this when i got my dui. i could wait five or ten years but i have to get the machine and my insurance will not go down until i successfly get rid of the machine. i understand where your coming from, i really do. but take responiciblity. your LUCKY you didnt hurt anyone. there is no difference between somebody who drink/does drugs and drives and hurts somebody and somebody who does it but doesnt. no difference at all, just luck.

I had to buy a car even though I couldn’t drive yet. Then the dmv takes so long to process the thing that I’ve already paid a car payment and insurance payment and can’t even drive yet. 🤷🏼‍♂️ hoops

I’m in Alaska, I have 4 DUIs. I have been sober since my last DUI which was a felony, in 2015. I completed a Therapeutic Wellness Court program after 27 months. I applied for and was granted a Limited License in Nov 2018, with the stipulation of having an Interlock device installed. It specifically states that I can apply for a Termination of Revocation after a minimum of three full years of successfully driving (with no violations) with the device. So, as soon as the three year mark hit, I was super excited to start the process of having the revocation lifted and then being able to have a real true valid drivers license for the first time in years. Unfortunately, my application was denied. And was informed I wouldn’t be eligible’ to even apply for the Termination of Revocation until 2028. So they are expecting me to continue driving with this device another 6 years. I have spoke with the Wellness Court coordinator and together we have tried to get and understanding from the DMV how they are coming to this conclusion. I have a spotless driving record since having the interlock. I don’t drink alcohol anymore. I learned my lesson. I paid my debt to society and just wish to move on with my life and be able to get into my car, start it and go. From what I have discovered, there seems to be some sort of misfiling, not on my part, but either with the court or the dmv. And I just keep being asked to be patient while they work on the ‘issue’ but won’t ever divulge the exact ‘issue’ that’s telling them I need to continue on for another 6 years. I completely see how the system makes it difficult for people to try and get their license back yet get the runaround, eventually just giving up, and drive without a license. I don’t want to give up, but I’m seriously on the verge.

MONEY! It’s a corporate cash cow, I was lucky and had 4 months with the interlock, I went longer in case there were “issues”, as I understood there are. Still have to have an SR22 until 2025, which is $124 for 6 months, negligible since I have no violations in 21 years. YES, 21 YEARS! I don’t drink alcohol anymore, I can see how much more difficult it can be for people starting from a dead start! You can get into the system and it can be very difficult to get out. I moved to another state and had no violations. Good luck.

I installed mine within the first few days of my dui arrest. I know the DMV doesnt mess around and dont want the waiting game. The truth about these interlocks is that it is a SCAM! Anyone who has had one knows. States make it insanely hard to reinstate to normal status. The one I had made violations ON ITS OWN. meaning I did not do anything wrong but the thing finds ways to violate anyway. $100 a month plus $50 for violations plus install. To top it off I wasn't driving impaired. I passed field sobriety but because I admitted to taking medication prescribed to me daily I got a dui

Omg yes they take all my money for the smallest things, a fee here a fee there . In the end I’m paying $94 every 2 weeks to drive my car. It’s ridiculous and I’ve only had it for 3 months and it’s about to be winter here in Chicago and not sure what to do about the device getting to coke. How do you warm it up if you can’t start the vehicle and also you can’t detach the one I have to bring inside during bad weather, so I have to have this in my car for a year with a RDP I only drive to and from work M-T 3-11pm. So after the year is up I have to set up another hearing by myself ? Or would I go through my same lawyer as the one who got me my Restricted driving permit ? Why do they make this so hard ? I got my DUI in 2014 and I’m still dealing with it and paying so much damn money! I don’t drink at all period. I never drank a lot before when I even got the DUI I was just young and really fckn dumb!!! It’s been almost 10 years ! The shit is never ending I couldn’t tell you how much money I have paid for having a DUI I actually got 2 DUIs. I got one in 2012 for drinking and driving and then one in 2014 for marijuana! But Im not playing I have spent thousands of dollars 💵 paying for these DUIs. Please if your reading this don’t drink and drive! Call your attorney. Some attorneys charge one fee and they’ll represent you at hearings until full reinstatement so you might be covered still with your other attorney under the fee you previously paid. @@iTranscendx if you’ve never been through anything like this then shut your trap. Nobody said anyone that had even been through the system for that is going to do it again, or even drinks still for that matter. If they cared about drinking and driving all they would do is require the device and leave it at that. Instead they also restrict where you can drive, as if somehow if you drove anywhere else but to work, school, etc. even with the device that you would drink and drive. Ah yes, Sally has a BAIID but we want to make sure she doesn’t drink and drive so we also have to make her only able to drive to certain places, even though she has a Device in her car that would prevent drinking and driving regardless as to her destination. Instead, we need to restrict locations and also charge her $100’s of dollars to carry a permit that will allow her to do so. Some people have family members, kids or elderly family members that they need to be able to support. You can’t work if you can’t drive. Can’t take care of grandma and take her to medical appointments if you can’t drive. What does this mean? It means that people will and do still do it anyways, because you can’t pay for the device, or anything for that matter, unless you work. and if they get caught - they end up getting put back in jail and other punishments. Because that’ll teach them a lesson not to go to work and make money so they can pay the fines that were imposed and the additional fines that were just imposed from getting caught. Kindly, fuck off. Some people even get a DUI for doing the responsible thing and not driving. Instead they sleep in their car and still get arrested. So, like I said….fuck off.

@mamsy1169
@mamsy1169 2 жыл бұрын
@@dankvis You clearly did not read a word of what I said. But go ahead and think you've never driven legally drunk before, after having those 2 drinks at dinner. For smaller people 2 beers gets them to .08, and you can still get a DUI if you blow under that as well. You also need to educate yourself about the legal system. There are constitutional factors to punishments, and you cannot punish someone for their entire life for a mistake they made 30 years ago. Punishments must fit the crime and cannot be retroactive (ex post facto). There are also 2 purposes: Rehabilitation and to protect the public. Otherwise, it is considered excessive. If someone has the BAIID in their car, that takes care of that factor as they can't start their car if they have been drinking, and there is no rehabilitative purpose behind restricting someone's movements further while they have the BAIID in their car. Since it is not a matter of driving in general, it is drinking and driving, having the BAIID in their vehicle prevents someone from doing that, and completely fulfills the factor to protect the public, restricting movements does not further protect in any way. If someone has their license suspended or revoked and drives drunk again while revoked or suspended and outside of the terms of a BAIID permit, they're going to do it no matter what. Restricting movements in addition to a BAIID requirement only further hurts those who are actually trying to do the right thing, without any logical purpose to it being an addition to a BAIID requirement. Harsher and more restrictive retroactive requirements is not going to do anything except make things tougher on those doing the right thing and those who likely wouldn't drink and drive again. I work in an industry where I see ALL kinds of DUI offenders, but go ahead and criticize the person who decided to sleep in their car instead of drive drunk and still gets a DUI and say that a lifelong restriction is appropriate for them where they have to have a BAIID and can only drive to and from work for the rest of their life. Why do people think that the only people that get a DUI are the people who are so drunk they can't even stand up and then drive? Most people that get them are between the .08-.16 range. Which is not "can't stand up" drunk. "Can't stand up or walk" drunk is at .2 Just because someone got a DUI doesn't mean they were drunk or impaired. .08 is the legal limit. For some people, that's two beers. I would hardly call someone drunk after two beers. It's called tolerance. If someone has a high tolerance, they may not even be impaired at all at .08 to .12 BAC range - which is why many DUI's occur at this range...nobody knows what their actual BAC level is and how alcohol effects BAC levels (until they get a DUI) and all they have to go by is how they feel. And since they do not feel drunk or impaired, they get behind the wheel not even knowing that their BAC level is actually at .10

If she could avoid those incredibly rare moments and blow three zeroes regardless of the date/time, she would have had that device removed from her vehicle many years ago. Intoxalock is a shady company, but in my opinion, the woman's impulse level to drink alcohol is way too high. The device and the law are working as intended in this case.

There has to be something done about this, had I not been pulled over my life would be much better, I am done with the bullshit ass guilt trips for this money making machine, theyvuse dwi as legal slavery, since 2015 I have been working my ass off to get out of this hole. It Seriously makes me want to get shit blasted drubk and go on a fucking rampage, so many cold AND hot nights I have been stuck in a fucking parkinglot for having a couple of dri ks.

@@calebh7902Bro is literally complaining that the thing that prevents him from driving drunk is working. Your life isn't messed up because you got pulled over. You're not stuck in a parking lot because of the device. All your problems are because of your drinking and bad decision making. You're lucky you didn't kill somebody and end up in prison. I'm sure that wouldn't have been your fault either, though. Just don't drink and drive. It's not rocket science. It's not even like saying "don't do drugs." You can still drink all you want, just not if you're going to drive. I genuinely hope you have to keep the device for the rest of your life. You're 100% going to re-offend if you don't. Both of you are "actual criminals," and what you did is a pretty serious crime, and you're treated so harshly because you don't think either of those are true and you'll do it again.

It's all a racket. Everyone involved makes tons of cash at your demise. It is complete overkill and they are so well protected it will never change. Hence why most rich folks are never convicted. They'd take down the whole system and they know it.

I can sympathize with this lady at some level, but at the same time do what you have to do what is required by law and the point is that it sticks and you don’t do it again. I’m not proud to say that I have one dui conviction, but I am proud to say that I learned my lesson, and I will not do it again because what you were going through does not compare to taking a life or ruining someone else’s life because of your personal choices.

Do you think that’s fair it’s installed for one year if not more and misreads and malfunctions causing more time lost and more money spent. Easier for me since I work online but imagine for people who are struggling and working a 9-5?
