Stripped copper wire is a good idea. Use solid wire and bend it over to keep from following out. Make sure you leave enough of a service loop in the wiring in case you have to get the battery out. Nice build! 73

I have one of those battery boxes and the mini Redodo 100Ah battery in it. And yes, I hacked it and I have additional parts for it. That switch is a little weird in that if you plug a charger into the power poles, it lights up as well as the volt meter but does not charge until you turn the switch on. But I like that you can hack that box. In fact, you used that my Redodo battery box at SYP just a month ago 😆

QC is the Qualcomm standard. The 3 and 4 loosely represent the amp output.

Jason, I measured the roll pin for the power pole and it is 2.5mm diameter

For pins try bamboo skewers or a piece of stripped copper wire. Probably 10g

I have taken a plain Jane battery box from Walmart, put fused cables to Anderson's. On the box outside I have Velcro to attach an Anderson power block. Depending on my station I can run a single rig, mutiple items, and can use a Powergate to charge or backup the power supply. Lots of flexibility at lower cost.

Good video Jason @Ham Radio 2.0 As for the nail that was preventing the power poles from being pushed in, you could put the nail back in and wrap electrical tape around the round receptacle holder inside the box all the way around couple times. As long as the tape covered the head of the nail, shouldn’t fall out.

@@HamRadio2 small machine screws in longer length - not sure off hand what size, but that should be cheap and work perfectly. Try Lowes or the like. A nut or screw into some epoxy to hole tight. Or install screw before inserting the plug into the box. I went cheap and jus used some bare copper ground wire inserted and bent over the tips to hold in place.

I run both my 7300 and 9700 in my shack on a Redodo 100 AH batter for months. I use about 60% in a day and charge it at night when I am done. Mike K8MRD did a video on this battery that's where I got the idea. On my Tower Wince I bought a marine battery and a box to keep it in. The box I got looks very much like yours. Has the lighter plug and termanils on the outside. I could add other stuff to it but for the tower it was cumberson to use the box so I just use the battery by itself. I may convert that old battery box to a solar charger. You got me thinking. Great video Jason thank you.

FYI "QC 4.0" refers to Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0, which is a technology developed by Qualcomm for fast charging of devices through USB ports, specifically targeting smartphones and other devices equipped with Qualcomm processors. Quick Charge technology allows for much faster battery charging of devices than standard charging methods by increasing the power delivery to the device.

Great video Jason. I actually saw, just today, from another KZbinr that .095 heavy duty trimmer line will pin the Andersons. Who knows? Might be worth a shot. 73

I use string trimmer line (.095" diameter if i am not mistaken) in place of the roll pin. You could try that through the hole in the Powerpole housings.

@@HamRadio2 And leave the trimmer line long on both sides of the APPs, then melt the ends to form little "rivet" heads. I usually use a soldering iron. A friend just puts a lighter underneath. (When I try a lighter the line catches fire, I melt the APPs, etc. I just don't have the touch!)

Jason you need to pull that 50 amp fuse. I can’t tell by watching the video, but aren’t the power pole wires only rated for 30 A. You said you would be able to be able to pull some juice, yes, and you would be melting your power poles or wire insulation

Power poles are 45amp, that's all I use. And burning wires isn't a huge deal if it saves the radio

My power pole kit came in pieces I had to make the wires and put it in the box it came with a roll pin it don't come out after it's in there till you knock it out

@HamRadio2 I got mine for Amazon. I got a Question I just ordered a Yaesu FTM-150 RASP does face mount just like the one on the Yeasu FT-891. I order my FTM 150 from Ham Radio outlet from Atlanta Georgia should be here Friday of this week going to order from GigaParts or DX engineer their said it would be later on in November for I would get it Ham Radio outlet said they had them in stocks order from them. Good price at $379.00

Didn't see if you did this, but grab some of that high density foam packing from the battery and put it in around the battery to stop it shifting around. Goes a long way for carrying comfort.

This battery just about fills the space. On the end where there is an opening, I usually put in a small bag that carries USB cables

No, not even close, really. Jackery has an inverter, this one doesn't. And they are much heavier. And inverters are noisy.

@@HamRadio2 I do have the HFT 290 Jack. One thing it does will is regulating 12V out at constant power. Can do an all day public service event on 2M or qrp HF GOTA station with the Icom 703. Now do these Li batteries have 12V discharge regulation?
