This is the channel that really got me to get licensed. From a fellow Floridian, thanks always for the down to earth good attitude in your videos.

Adding to my comment while listening... I'm also excited about the FT8 2m contacts... Only have an FT-818, but maybe 5W (with extra cooling) will be good enough for FT8 if I get a good antenna up by the next contest

ARRL VHF-UHF contest goes to 0300z. June 13. 6 meters has been open all weekend to Utah. 10 and 12 meters are open every day as well. Low power and simple antennas can be used on these bands with excellent results.

ah yes i see what you mean i was listening while im repairing my brothers radio, but looking and listening makes more sense to my poor old brain, good for planning what my daughter an her mates call a "mission" when i go up a tree on a mountain over night, she thinks i sleep in the tree

Because I just watched this video last night, I knew where to go. Going to work this morning VHF was wide open. Couldn't wait to get to work to see how the propagation was doing.

Been using these sites for years! They are a great tool to check for propagation (or what you’re missing while at work haha!)

These tools are great! But how do you guys use these many tools, have so many awesome rig and still dont do real DX?
@HamRadioConcepts2 жыл бұрын
I do real DX every day, please don't assume I don't ... I'm bored of DX at this point... Others have not had this kind of excitement. Don't ruin it for them
@kurttuttle18172 жыл бұрын
My favorite source, is to get on and call CQ. If you don't make a contact then try a different band or mode except FT8. FT8 to me is computer-to-computer no operator interaction which takes away from all the fun. If I was collecting wallpaper maybe but after57 yrs of not doing it, why start now.
@gahvno2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree. To each his own. I know a lot of folks out here love FT8 because it gives them the ability to make lots of contacts without actually having to talk with a microphone lol, but I didn't get into ham to have my computer talk to another computer. I got into it to meet people and to learn new stuff and actually to other people around the world.

how to find the pile up

Is there a good website to find out when DX will be rolling strong again by chance ?
@HamRadioConcepts2 жыл бұрын
It's a matter of listening, calling cq and using some websites to see actual spots.. don't rely on the solar index garbage, it does what it wants

why dont you just look at the waterfall? or switch the radio on?
@HamRadioConcepts2 жыл бұрын
Because my voice is hoarse trying to tell people to get on the radio.. I need more contacts and I have to lure everyone in to the airwaves if they don't try it
