The BLE interface of the mobilink now works with IOS. This gives you a great opportunity to have a wireless serial path to your radios in mobile applications.

I haven’t taken any tests but started studying. IMHO it’s good to innovate and push into new stuff but most of that won’t be for me. I’m doing this for long and short range family coms in case we have cellular and internet down situation long term or short term.

If you want to do only FT8 remotely just remote to your home PC with some remote software. Or even simple old RDP (Remote Desktop).

The only thing that works in disaster is analog or satellite. No use for me in digital that rely on Internet except for fun. Learned that on hurricane Maria in P.R after months and months without cell towers or fiber optics

I have a solution for the guy that wanted to remote to his home DX10 to do FT8…. Get a different antenna bro. The radio already has two Cat control ports. If you want to do FT8 when you go out of town, just bring a FT-891 or a Icom705 and a simple vertical whip antenna. Takes 5min to setup 🤷🏻♂️. I agree remote working your home rig is still done over old school serial port and that sucks. The people who remote mostly use voice and no engineering team is gonna bang their head about ft8 interface when its a small percentage of people that will use it remote. I would love to have it too, but I don’t see it happen any time soon. My Icom7300 has a remote software to do remote voice(that doesn’t work well) but in other to do it you have to change setting on the radio that will completely disable FT8 from working on your computer. So even if I had 7 Cat control ports the radio settings will not allow working ssb and ft8 remotely at the same time.

I find the biggest problem is arrogant hams speaking/shouting their call sign so fast that neither man nor beast can catch it ... unless their friends of course who know them anyway.

Hahahah Too much technology in ham radio. The result of duming down the licensing process if you ask me
