Hi Daniel. Re: your hamstring niggle/injury, if foam rolling helps make it feel subjectively better, then keep doing it. However, it won't deal with the underlying cause of the pain, which is more likely to be related to training load management (e.g., the muscle/tendon's capacity has been overloaded). In my opinion, and this of course is not medical advice, you'd be better off trying to decrease your training volume (25-50%), probably targetting the running specifically as it's unlikely the niggle has been caused by cycling, and increase the amount of strengthening work that you're doing. Isometric and eccentric exercises for the hamstrings have been shown to be effective in the rehabilitation of a variety of hamstring injuries. If it persists despite decreasing your training volume, go see a health care professional (i.e., physiotherapist). I hope this helps, and I wish you luck in getting rid of this niggle.

Thanks very much for all of that, I'm certain that I did it by pulling myself across my bed with one leg rather than an overuse / repetitive strain style of injury. I'm resting it from running completely over Christmas and will see how it is in the New Year so 10days - 2 weeks fully off of running. If it's still not 100% I'll get it looked at, I'm not having another long period plagued by injury if I can help it :D cheers

Trying doing the heat + compression strategy after foam rolling it. If it's a tight muscle, all these things + th heat will increase blood flow and relax the area and the niggle will be gone super quick

@@PatrickDelorenzi thanks Patrick! I’ll wear any of my clothes, they’re all too tight at the minute so compression isn’t a problem 🤣

So you get even more kit...the more solid foam rollers with nobbly bits are *far* more effective.

Don't be fooled into thinking you can eat more because you do a workout your body gets used to it and you don't burn as many calories as you think.
