I met Mr Bennink in the 70's while living and touring with the American band Sweet Smoke. I travelled to his farm house in Holland and simply presented myself uninvited. He was gracious and we sat at the drums in his outdoor house and shared riffs. He claimed he had heard of the band, didn't seem like the guy of guy who would just say this out of kindness. He doesn't need to be from another planet, he's from Holland.

I saw Han perform with Derek Bailey when I was a teenager, so that's 40 to 50 years ago. I was terrified, he seemed dangerously insane. Extraordinary, beyond words.
