Hmmm, I find it slightly unfortunate how they handled Baek in this scene. Originally, he wasn't as smug about his abilities. He was simply the calm and calculating type that slowly broke down opponents, with a backstory to match his theory on combat and intelligence. Not only that, after losing his baseball bat to Daewi's Fist of the Black Turtle, he attempted to counter his Dance of the White Tiger using the strongest attack he knew: Jin Mori's triple strike. He's obviously not as skilled as Mori but was able to perfectly replicate the technique, still losing to the onslaught of Daewi's combo and sheer power. Don't get me wrong, this fight is animated beautifully, but it felt like Baek was underplayed fairly heavily.

An amazingly adapted scene! Though part of me does prefer the more calm and reserved(sorta bored-looking) Baek from the webtoon rather than the surprisingly energetic fighter he seems to me in the anime. Him laughing and his voice tone from the shock of being overwhelmed by the end made him seem a bit more quirky. Great voicing acting to show emotion at least. I just loved seeing him be cocky and cynical first in the webcomic before slowly realizing that his theory was wrong and that there was more to life than he initially thought. And finally then he'd start getting pumped with newfound determination against Daewi before losing. It's good quick character development, but his unique personality as a reserved genius was what really appealed to me. I just hope part of that from him sticks the more we see of him in the future. Keep up the amazing scenes, Studio MAPPA!

@Mr Obvious Heres where I disagree with you on two points. 1. First of all, the studio were forced to only do 13 episodes, and they had to miss out on alot of things or else the series would be alot more boring, hence making alot of anime watchers dip instead of staying. They knew they had to leave out alot of backstories and only leave in some clues so the watchers have to piece it together themselves, dont blame the studio for this, they did amazing 2. You saying the creator doesnt care is extremely arrogant in my opinion and there is full proof that the creator does care. The fact that he put thousands and thousands, maybe ten thousands, 9 years worth of work, blood and sweat into a series he did out of pure passion. No creator of a long running series like that "doesnt care" because as a former comic creator myself it is very tiring and I would only ever put myself to doing hundreds of chapters if I had god tier levels of love and passion for my series. He even skipped out on his wife's wedding honeymoon and even had to take some time away from being with his new son just to do chapters. The notes say it all.

Baek’s original “last stand”, if you will, is that he stood up after a brutal beatdown by Daewi. Daewi’s already gassed out and was shocked to see him still standing and ready to fight, and Baek claims that he is not willing to lose, but then he faints and collapses to the ground. Baek actually has his own detailed backstory that is worth putting in. I wish they used this source instead of making Baek a genius but overconfident fighter stereotype.

Not ungrateful, but some people just want a direct adaptation. This fight was really good, but it left a lot of the best parts out. Its only natural that stuff gets cut, because they're trying to cram 112 chapters into 13 episodes, but I can still understand why some people are a bit disappointing.
