Such entertaining shotmaking and athleticism from both players! Thanks for this!

What a match! Martina and Hana invent game beyond all imagination!

These two just absolutely striking sparks off each other. Brilliant all court tennis. That first set was Hana's career in a nutshell - playing untouchable tennis and then suddenly going off. In years past she would have disappeared but the way she stuck with it showed how much she'd matured.

Crazy that Navratilova lost 2 US Open finals winning a set 6-1 and losing the other 2 sets in a tiebreak. Oh and her last Singles tournament final was lost the same way.

Definitely some bad memories for Martina with tiebreaks at the US Open. She also lost her 1978 semi final to Pam Shriver 7-6, 7-6 then the 1980 fourth round to Hana Mandlikova 7-6, 6-4, then the 1982 quarter final to Pam Shriver 1-6, 7-6, 6-2 then of course the 1991 final to Seles 7-6, 6-1

Hana had so much flair & natural athleticism. But kind of undisciplined.

Whenever Martina lost or beaten the match was always so close at the end. For many years like Evert at their peak just clobbered their opponents. The tie break came into be created for TV. The media needed a time frame to televise.

these days it's for the sake of the athlete's physical well being. now all 4 grand slams implemented tiebreaker for all sets.

I’d like to dedicate this title to Chris Evert, who had the sour grapes of saying Martina would beat Hanna in the final, after Hanna beat Evert in the semis

This is not a full match. It’s an edit, and a terrible one at that.

I hate these old matches where they only show or mention the score every now and again.
