That’s because their isn’t 10,000,000 people in the u tube verse that are intelligent enough to know good music. We live in a world where short and simple is what entertains. It is the few who appreciate great art. Some people can’t appreciate songs without singers. Some people can’t stay with a song for over 3 minutes. They would all say he’s a good musician but they just don’t like that type of music. People buy the hook. You gotta have something catchy or the masses won’t like it. It’s easy to entertain the masses. That’s what record companies do. They put out what sells. I’ve known record companies send great musicians down the road and keep some lame band or singer for a song. Sad but the best artists in the world never get their due.

In 1973, the Headhunters comprised Hancock (keyboards), Bennie Maupin (saxophone, clarinet), Harvey Mason (drums), Paul Jackson (bass), and Bill Summers (percussion). The name Headhunters denotes a triple reference to the jungle, the intellectual, and the sexual.

Great upload! Stellar performance, hysterical commercials at the end, and groovy title music finale.

Brilliant, Wah-Wah is so cool, even Herbie thinks so!

Paul Jackson's funk pushed Herbie and Bennie to places they could never get to without him. He will be studied and copied and loved by bass players forever. I have a theory that every bass player can remember details of the exact moment they 1st heard Spank-a-Lee, it's a life changing experience for most of us....

Lets not forget about that funky guitar riff in the intro/theme for the Kirshner Show (played by a young Ray Parker Jr., by the way)

Secrets was such a masterful album. Hancock is without a doubt a genius. And Bennie Maupin is a woodwind god!
