I recently showed this vid to my brother Enda, who's a master engraver, but who has never used any machines in his life, apart from his hands, and can no longer continue due to very bad arthritis in his hands. He's now 78 years old. He was fire and flame for your pneumatic engraver and wished that he'd been able to use it when he was engraving by hand for all those years. He's absolutely convinced that it would've made his life far more easy. In 1991, I asked him to engrave a gold locket for our older sister Lioghan (it's an Irish name) with her name for her 45th birthday, which I then proudly presented to her. In 2000, I asked him to engrave the back of the locket with the dates of her birth and her death from breast cancer - which occurred in the year 2000. I still wear that hand-engraved locket, by my dear brother, around my neck to this day. MsG

I like to watch professionals in their work. I too have started to make silver rings as hobby. I was a truck driver but i had a stroke 5 years ago and now with out work, so i have something to do. Unfortunately i am not rich so i can buy all those tools. I can only dream of that electronic microscope he has and the GRS GraverMax G8 machine. Well, perhaps in other life ,lol.

First time I have seen this kind of work, I think it is beautiful and masterly done. I'm that old now my eyes wouldn't allow me to do it but, it is pleasing to watch a craftsman at work talking his way through the project. Thank you for showing your skill.

THANK YOU, seriously, THANK YOU you have no idea how tired i am of people saying "Oh, digital art is not art" if i put down the stylus it wont work, its still me drawing, it only changes the medium, people had had the same argument from the start of human history, minimalism, abstract art, expresionism, cinema, videogames, they treat it as if they where not art in any way when they still take Blood Sweat and Tears to learn and be made thank you man, for the turorial and for the words, im sick of snobs playing the "i know more than you" card, its just gatekeeping and dont get me started on the ones who see references as cheating

I also have little artistic ability but ive found that it helps massively when you start learning the basics and using them to make some designs. Just like other skills, you learn what techniques can be used to do what, then when you understand fully idea just start cropping up. Just like any other skill or trade, you gotta learn to walk before you can jog, run, skip or jump.

You're absolutely right. It is both your hand and the precision that you apply that make this engraving perfect. I could watch hours & hours of any artist in their own field doing intricate or detailed work. There are so much work involve in this field of art. Definitely, the artist has to use a lot of muscle. I'm starting to engrave and you inspire me. will be watching the next episodes. for sure.

Incredible work. Thank you for putting together these videos. I loved your comment on "machine engraving". I've had similar responses to painting digitally...My answer is the same. It's my hand drawing, layering and building depth and colour, composing the image...I just don't have to wait for the paint to dry. Aiming for hand engraving as another skill to have, (learning forging at the moment) tried dremeling but it lacked the depth and clean texture, so going to make some tools to start learning. Good luck with the channel, the content you've put out so far is inspiring and hugely informative
