Excellent workmanship! When I read the title my first thought was "a horn already has a shape, so the vid must be about cleaning carving polishing and sealing. How else but handmade can this be done." Then I see you carving a horn shape from wood and think "wooden horn? Interesting..." Then you proceed to actually MAKE the horn itself! NICE! Your creativity never fails to astound. My good sir, I tip my hat to you. Well done! 👍

You know, I was really upset when I first started this video and realized you weren't making it out of a real horn. I almost stopped the video twice but I stuck it out, which I usually won't. I must say I'm glad I did finish it because the end result was by far better than I could have imagined it ever turning out. I'm absolutely amazed and dumbfounded that it looks so real! so how sturdy is this build exactly? i mean i wouldn't bash it around like i wouldn't with any drinking glass, but how does it compare to plastic? would it crack if falling from your belt? Also about the wax coating, would it melt if in contact with warm (not scorching) beverages, like mead?
@EpicWorkshop

Actually it is very strong, my friend dropped it few times and nothing 🤘 for the wax... They also used it on real ones so It is authentic, because real horn stinks very badly, the stench goes away after waxing and some time 😊 🍺

Hey! Iv seen some viking shields done, sadly the most common are plywood, then glued boards. I'm currently making a cross glued board shield so basically 3mm planks lined up horizontally glued together then another layer vertical. Now to my question, what do you think the durability would be doing it with the fine wood shavings? cross gluing them until it reach a desirable thickness?

Truly an EPIC build! I'm definitely going to try and do this. BTW- scrolled through all the comments before asking...my wife loves the design on the vintage pot you used to heat the wax. Could you give me any details of the manufacturer or design if there's any on the pot? I've been looking all over, want to get her some for her birthday. Thanks!!

Why you didn't apply food safe water based varnish in the inside aswell? That way the horn can be used with both hot and cold beverages, isn't it?

This is so awesome and i really wanna do it can you wash it and how durable would you say it is ? And could you make it just out of wood carvings ?
@EpicWorkshop
@EpicWorkshop 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Anna, you should definitely give it a try 🤘 Well... not washer friendly but I usually rinse it good under cold water and leave it to dry. Durability-wise, I still have it 🍻 and it definitely saw some action 😂 It is possible to carve it out of two halves of wood and then glue them together but that is lot more work and wood moves quite a lot.. so I don't know for sure... it would probably work. Hope you make it 🤘 Have an Epic day 🍻 Moris
