Hand Made Viking Drinking Horn

Be sure to use Food Safe glue and finish on the horn!
I know how to drink from the horn, but I wanted to get better shot with the camera, and also it looks more barbaric with the tip to the sky :D
This is an easy alternative to make your own drinking horn, if you cannot buy/get one (like me) :/
The horn is made out of wood shavings and towel paper and can hold 1 L of beverage, which is tested, be sure to use a lot of layers (5 or more) to get strong structure ;)

Excellent workmanship! When I read the title my first thought was "a horn already has a shape, so the vid must be about cleaning carving polishing and sealing. How else but handmade can this be done." Then I see you carving a horn shape from wood and think "wooden horn? Interesting..." Then you proceed to actually MAKE the horn itself! NICE! Hey Anna, you should definitely give it a try 🤘 Well... not washer friendly but I usually rinse it good under cold water and leave it to dry. Durability-wise, I still have it 🍻 and it definitely saw some action 😂 It is possible to carve it out of two halves of wood and then glue them together but that is lot more work and wood moves quite a lot.. so I don't know for sure... it would probably work. so how sturdy is this build exactly? i mean i wouldn't bash it around like i wouldn't with any drinking glass, but how does it compare to plastic? would it crack if falling from your belt? Also about the wax coating, would it melt if in contact with warm (not scorching) beverages, like mead?

Actually it is very strong, my friend dropped it few times and nothing 🤘 for the wax... They also used it on real ones so It is authentic, because real horn stinks very badly, the stench goes away after waxing and some time 😊 🍺

So you use the wood shavings almost like paper mache, how thin do they need to be to get the pliability to wrap them like you do?

Yeah, somewhere about 0.10 mm I also used kitchen towel paper after to get smoother finish, because wood shavings will leave rough finish. Thinnest wood shaving I managed to get was 0.003-ish 😍

very nice horn, but you missed out on one detail, the "e" rune that you used that looks like an "M" is not a viking rune, that's in old futhark. vikings used young futhark.

Epic Workshop radovi su vam izuzetni. Bravo za kreativnost. Jedino ne razumem kompletan proces. Na rog koji je napravljen od drveta kao kalup prvo ide folija celofan (ako sam dobro skuzio), potom se lepi sloj opiljaka od strugotine , pa sloj papira, pa susenje ventilatorom. Taj proces se ponavlja 5 puta minimum je li tako? Molim vas napisite mi ako hocete kako ide proces do crtanja rapidografom. Bog vam dao zdravlje i svako dobro.

Hvala :D Točno to sta si napisao haha :D prvo šablona, onda zaštita celufanom da se ne zaljepi sve zajedno, drvo nije potrebno ali očvrsne strukturu, kuhinjski papir je majka za ovo, sušenje u rerni ubrzava postupak 100 puta hahah (50 C po pola sata sa ventilatorom) moraš ponoviti da dode čvrsta konstrukcija ;) i da na kraju unutra sipas otopljeni pčelinji vosak da sve lijepo dode vodo-otporno, a izvana moraš neki foodsafe lak staviti i tjt. nije težak proces samo vremenski malo naporan ali ide brzo u 3 dana napravis bez beda jedan ;) Moris

This is so cool! I am currently reading "The Ship of the Dead", book 3 of the Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard by Rick Riordan; and it is about Norse Mythology. The book mentions a couple of things and that includes a horn! Seeing this made me imagine it better! (though the ones in the book has runes on it)
