I saw that too, won’t criticise mind you as I’m just the same! Takes the wife all day to drink a half and I’m 3 pints in by then! This is why although I’d love a pump like this in my bar I probably wouldn’t as I’d never leave the place!

The thing that made Pat's last video so great was seeing him get pissed, in real time, gulping down the ale, each pint in just 2 or 3 go's....lovely to see & exactly how I drink beer! Should be a compulsory new law...since fucking lockdown, each pint must now be drunk in 2, or maximum 3, gulps! Imagine my horror then to see in this video, cuts & the glass has magically gone down!? No Pat, we don't want that, no cuts to cover up you going outside & tipping some on the lawn! Gulp it down man, live, on camera....maybe get really pissed & smash the pub up a bit.

Thanks for all the info Patrick. I'm now set-up with an almost identical beer in a box system and living the dream. I used the exact same handpump and thermostat - coupled it to a normal undercounter fridge, with an in-line non-return valve in the beer line. My local brewery (Bishop Nick) deliver next day for free to my house but (being in the South East) I'm paying £60 for a 36 pint polypin. I sometimes get them on offer for £52, so I'm paying between £1.40 and £1.60 a pint overall (i.e. nothing compared to London prices!). My next move is to mount the whole system on a portable trolley, so I can use it in the garden kitchen in Summer, then indoors in Winter. I'll have to make the whole arrangement as 'sympathetic as possible to get planning permission from 'She Who Must Be Obeyed' of course before it can be brought indoors. I wish you (continuing) good health Sir! Cheers Graeme.

Great setup and great video, Pat - as always :) Tip for temperature control; if you store the temp probe for the inkbird in a glass of water inside the fridge it will replicate temperature of the beer better and not be affected as much by ambient temperature changes if opening the fridge door turning the cooling relay on/off unnecessary.

Another great vlog, cheers Pat. Your setup is very similar to mine but I haven't used it yet so the cleaning aspect was particularly useful. I looked at a cooling unit for the pump but, as you say, they're very expensive. So what I've done is made my own, it's just a small cool box full of water with a small pond pump in it. This pumps the water to the hand pump and then it returns to the ice box. The ice box is in the fridge, above the beer box and seems to work well :)
@MrPianoKnee
@MrPianoKnee 4 жыл бұрын
Water is at maximum density at 4° C. So convection may be sufficient if your chilled vessel of water, in the refrigerator, is a few feet above the hand pull. Be sure to insulate the cool convection tubing. The taller the refrigerated vessel is, the better. Terminate the warm return at the top of the vessel and the descending cool water tubing at the base of the vessel.

great subject is beer, ivejust got back into homebrewing after a 20 year gap, the market is is amazing now, ive just dne a 40 pint kit cost 19 quid, came with hops n yeast, simple to do just boiled malt in 6 litres boiling water, topped up wi cold water, left to get to temp, added yeast, then hops 5 days after, left in barrel 4 week , wow its amazing, the kit is a clone of elvis juice ipa, and i have to say im impressed ! maybe that mite be the way to go pat, that way you can have a few beers on the bar,

Welcome to Mr D's Ale House! Well that puts my Speckled Hen in the shade, though I'm not really a drinker, and, I can make pint last a couple of hours. Oh Eck, Pat, I got a couple of big pieces of mirror out of a skip, about 15 years ago - about 4ft X 3ft, as I recall, and for free. The builders were glad to see the back of it! It occurs to me that you could add a small water tank to the top shelf of your fridge, and pipe that to the water jacket of the engine. Add a small electric caravan water pump, and circulate the water from fridge to pump and back again. Just a thought.

Great pub you've created in a garden shed. I don't know if you are into homebrewing but I got back into home brewing after a 20 year break (I used to make it in the 80's and 90's with my late father). I find a good way of keeping the beer fresh is to bottle it - it doesn't last more than a few weeks in a keg. Homebrewing has come a long way in the last 20 years; the 2 can kits from 'Woodforde's Brewery in Norfolk and 'St Peter's Brewery in Suffolk make excellent beers - and I'm a northerner from near Rochdale in Greater Manchester. Woodforde's Wherry bitter is great as a homebrew and St Peter's Ruby Re ale also - St Peter's do an IPA kit also - they also sell the large kegs of beer or bottles - but I find for value and better taste the homebrew kits knock the socks off the commercial equivalents.

Fantastic! I could sit in there for hours. Don't worry about the carpet, just tip a pint of beer on it every day to keep it smelling authentic. It's probably been suggested, but to keep all the lines cool it's easy enough to mimic a commercial setup without spending much . All it would take is a tub of glycol/water in the fridge with a small (pond) pump circulating it down pipes that spiral around your beer lines feeding the water jacket on the tap then back up to the fridge. It'd save you having two pints just to get to a cold one, but I suppose that might be a bit counterproductive. I look forward to seeing some more wild camping videos! I was out on Kinder early this week and it wasn't as busy as I feared.

Thanks may set up a cooling system but would only really need in in our UK summer, hope to be back out soon, I had thoughts that everybody else would be out, the car parks and footpaths have been more busy than I have ever seen, all the best Pat

@@patrickdickinson6492 Probably do as much work keeping things from freezing! I used the same controller as yours to keep my homebrew fermenting in the attic. The paths are quite busy in fair weather/weekends but off the main routes on weekdays it's fine. I walked the Edale/Kinder Skyline on Tuesday and probably only saw a dozen or so people over 23 miles.

When I see you Patrick, I see a skilled, and dexterous man. I will make one small suggestion if it is fine with you Pat that should make you public house more comfortable. Since this is now summer, air vents and a controlled extra fan arrangement might be beneficial, and it doesn’t need to be elaborate as I’m sure it will get very hot and humid in there since there are no windows: and a regulated under seat heating system for the fall and winter months ...just a thought my friend. I have similar systems inside my workshop, and I’m glad I installed them ...tinkering with vintage valve electronics equipment can certainly generate a fair amount of heat at this time of year, and not quite enough heat in winter LOL. Yes my friend, an unusual, as well as a very fascinating project ...I love it! Best regards, Phil.

Hi Phil, yes a very good idea, the other week when it was very warm the temperature reached 35 C far too hot, a fan and vent would of helped, but now the fridge does,nt even have to cool the beer, it's at a nice 12C as is the general temperature. Hope your enjoying yourself with your vintage radios, always good to enjoy your hobby, thanks Pat

Thank you for your comments, very pleased with the beer, one reason I chose your brewery was to see how long the delivery took, around 48hours so acceptable for the distance, and the fact you can get beer in a box from all over the UK, thanks Pat

Your a top fella Patrick. You made me laugh with your Yorkshire humour. I love a TT Landord but agree with you about the citrusy hoppy IPA beers going down dead easy too. The pub looks fab and i'd cycle the 50 odd miles over the Pennines from Littleborough for a pint there when restrictions are lifted lol.

Yeah ,better have another. Just to be sure . Y' never know ! Nice to see you've got a good hygiene routine going on , just as in brewing ,it makes the difference between success and failure/disappointment . Also , this is the only examplw I've seen so far of correct social distancing in the "sucker" so far ! the wire for my thermostat is routed thru' the silicone seal on the door , not obtrusive ,but as the fridge is also my fermentation chamber ,it has the probe in a thermowell in either the fermenting vessel ,and when finished , a thermowell in the keg/pressure barrel . All controlled by a home-built unit based on an STC100 controller. Keg is no longer a dirty 4-letter word ! Works O.K. for the hoppy stuff we both like. Also , I did a ESB bitter , turned out REALLY good, can't seem to find a quality bitter like you used to get that suits me . It worked great with just a bit of blanket pressure to keep theair out. By crikey , it was good. Like Sam Smith's on steroids. Brewday's looming again ,and there's always packs of Citra hops in my freezer , so guess wot's on next / I'll have to try and bottle some for ya.But it will have to be swigged frsh , mind ! Great vlog. Again. Nice to see a fellow happy at his work. Cheers ! Nigel H. and Helen.

Hi Nigel and Helen, hoping your both well great to hear from you. Used do a bit of brewing but find it easy to buy, but, the brewing process is still a attractive option, fine tuning your own brew. I like the blonde's, with a hoppy taste, nice to be able to find tune your own brew. Still a few bits to add to the pub, but enjoying it and of course always a few beer to try, all the best Pat

Hi Pat been smiling all the way through this one, big smiles!! I think our beer tastes are similar, the one I look for when back home is Summer Lightning (Hopback brewery Salisbury) and also like Hoegarden think it's Dutch. Looking forward to trying moonshine, mind!! That said I think the wise choice is to stay local. Been an explosion of micro breweries over here in the last few years producing IPAs and similar Good luck from Spain!!

Yet another great piece of entertainment from a very down to earth bloke. Nice piece of kit you've produced there Pat. If you fancy a mirror for the back of the bar we have one here (Barnsley) which is surplus to requirement. It measures 65"×31" in a darkwood surround. Just a thought. Keep up the good work.
