I love hand quilting is far more relaxing and very very nice after a while you get used to the movements and it's very unique, incredibly different from just using a machine.

I think the light is a fabulous item, as well as her showing the hand quilting with the thimble that really makes a huge difference in saving time. Its a little small of those to comment negatively about these things here. How many of you go through the work of making a video and sharing things you know? She does have a business and quilting is her business! I appreciate all the tips and tricks and introductions of items that go along with making quilting a much quicker and enjoyable experience!

Thanks for the tip about the needle threader. I have never heard of this device before. Loved the tip about the rocking the needle to get small stitches I always wondered how quilters got such tiny stitches. I always thought they did them one stitch at a time that is why I never wanted to quilt. I am glad I watched your video.

I never knew the trick of tying a knot with the needle!!! Thank you!!! I just found this video and I will be looking for more. I need to know if I do the binding first or the quilting. I'm slowly learning to hand quilt. I have made several with a machine and by birthing, not binding. Thanks!!

This is a great demonstration video. I didn't really care about the light mostly because I have found my own way to light up my work, but I like that thimble, all the thimbles I have ever had were either too small or too big or I just simply did not like them, but this one looks like it would work for me.

OMG you are FABULOUS!! I have been a crocheter for most of my life, I was always partial to crocheting with thread and because of the tension involved holding it tight, my hands just can't do it anymore, and love the sitting and just me and the hook, so I thought hand quilting would be a nice thing to try. You give a wonderful class!

a headlamp is less invasive or bothersome, no electrical cord and sit comfortably on your forehead, and can be found at Ross, TJmax, Wal-Mart, etc. For under $10, I've bought many headlamps at Ross for $4.99, my 9 kids are always finding uses for the lamps, form checking on the rabbitry late at night to walking in the dark to our vehicles and taking the garbage down to the roadside for morning pickup when we forgot to do it in the daylight.

Thank you so much for your video. I am about to attempt my first handmade quilt for my new neice to come. Hopefully it will spark a new start for me. I'm getting really excited and can't wait to get started. Did you create the pattern of the quilt in this video or did you find it somewhere? It's really precious and would be great to aspire to. Also, do recommend any particular batting for baby quilts opposed to normal bedding quilts?

@janeinglish1980
@janeinglish1980 7 жыл бұрын
After you get the first set of stitches made, gently pull on the thread, say like if thread had gotten a tad tangled, but don't pull too hard. Hold thread sorta close to where the last stitch comes out and pull gently. Don't try pulling with the thread out at it's lengths end. Up close to have more control. Sometimes it may take a couple of tries. You will see the knot just pop into the quilt top. Or I've take my needle and sorta helped push the knot in while gently tugging on it. Make your knot like she showed and it's usually easy to pop right under the quilt top.
