@@PrepH20 Thanks! It’s looking harder than it actually is - you only have to stay very focused and calm, and it takes more time than you would expect 😅 Cheers!

That’s quite an achievement, making brass out of oak :) but seriously, I do jewelry on an amateur basis, and integrating metalwork into woodworking is very cool, and something that I am starting to do…

Nice build! looks to be the perfect size for a good bottle of Scotch.

Thank you! In a perfect world a bottle of scotch would fit, unfortunately I’ve built it 2cm to small to get the regular size in :)

Beautiful craftsmanship! I was wondering what you had used as the stain and finish? I've been looking into what i'll need to make my girlfriend a desk and have been having trouble finding an apropriate finish.
@alex_makes.6 ай бұрын
Thank you! The finish is stain without solvent (Dark Walnut) and linseed oil varnish. Going to wax it with a mixture from carnauba wax and beeswax when the linseed oil is fully dry. That adds a bit of "shine" to it and smells very good! *edit: it depends on the wood you’ll going to use! Have you made a decision which wood it’ll be?

Beautiful build. Was it barrel oak - I had similar boards with the slot in the end and I thought they were floor boards.

Ich habe mal irgendwo auf youtube gesehen, dass man verzogenes Holz auch mit Wasser und Gewichten begradigen kann.

Great video and a beautiful box! I was going to ask about the finish but I've seen your reply to another comment about it. I'm interested in making a box with a metal inlay but I was concerned about seasonal wood movement causing the metal to come out. Is this something you'd expect to be a problem or not?
@alex_makes.6 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! I’m not quite sure about how much the movement will be, but even when it’s moving a bit, I don’t mind. I’ve built this for fun and I hope it stays in shape, and if not I’ll still like it, I guess ;) Just give it try!
