Wayne I have to say, that I really appreciate you bringing this type of medium into wood turning! This truly makes fantastic patterns and the iridescents in the pieces just pop beautifully! I have to share! Many blessings to you my friend!

That's very nice of you to say Tracy, I've got to add that I'm not the first or last to bring colour to woodturning. There are turners here in the UK that are a lot more proficient than me, Thanks for sharing

Really nice. Striking actually. I do believe I watched this 4 years ago but it reminded me that this should be on my bucket list. I assume the black undercoat is just a gloss sprayed lacquer but can imagine other base colours could work also.

Wayne I was so pleased to see this video and the beautiful vase when it was finished. I would like to know what the paints were , I am not sure if we can get the same here in the USA. I have a black goblet and I think that string paint would be so good for that goblet. If I did it from the top down it may look like flowers. But any way love all you share and thank you for your kindness for sharing what you do , it gives us an encouragement to try something new.

Hi Eric thanks for the comment. The paints are are Jo Sonja iridescent paints, they are made in the USA so you should be able to get them, try josonja.com/

Absolutely ingenious! I’ve never seen that technique, but saying that, I don’t get out much.....or at all! My wife keeps me in a cage and feeds me KZbin videos and come my birthday and Christmas I get Ryobi One Tools to play with! But in all seriousness, that looks fantastic! Congrats! Cheers, Sean

Really effective Wayne. Do you clear lacquer over the top & buff/polish ? I guess you could use an airbrush to put a pearlescent finish on before you do the string pull ? It looks kind of Oriental. Definitely going to have a go at some time. Thanks for sharing, Geof
@WaynetheWoodturner6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Geof, yes I use a clear lacquer to finish

Hi Wayne! I just discovered your channel yesterday and became an immediate subscriber!! Cannot wait to learn this painting skill! Just a note (question) on this piece - did you consider having the images in reverse to the "blooms" of the flowe are at the top of the vase and stems at the bottom? Love your work. thanks for sharing . Regards Dennis Beamish Cambridge Ontario Canada.
@WaynetheWoodturner6 жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis, thanks for the comments and sub. In answer to your question I hadn't thought to put the blooms at the bottom
@rontocknell35925 жыл бұрын
The effects of this technique is undeniably beautiful. But I felt that the application was a little bit messy. You have inspired me to experiment with this technique but I think I would be inclined to try to avoid the smudging where you held the string down with a finger by holding it down on a waste area or perhaps a masked area. This was the only part of the process that I feel let it down. So it still gets a thumbs up from me... but it could have got a thumbs upper (thumbs upper?? Well, you know what I mean)
@WaynetheWoodturner5 жыл бұрын
Cheers Ron, pleased you liked it, next time I'll for an upper
@dennisbeamish90586 жыл бұрын
