You're exactly the type of teacher I would love to have. Understanding, educated and very lighthearted. You make an overwhelming subject like woodwork so much less daunting for someone that's new to the art. Thank you so much for your videos and all you do!

It would be kinda cool to see someone use this paint, but keep the piece attached to the lathe and apply to paint while it spins, blending some cool color combos into each other.

I WISH I COULD but i dont have the equipment to do this sort of work but i had an idea... what if u use the circle in the middle as a sort of sun and then make the colors look like a sunset with clouds of some sort of thing but keep it simple

You may want to switch the heat gun with a common hair dryer; less heat, more air flow, quicker and deeper drying. Also you're more and more Bob Ross. I love it.

I love the look and it still has the wood look also. What do you use to seal the bowls natural wood center?

used Valspar Gloss Topcoat. It goes on a little splattery (if that is a word) but using a green Scotch Brite I level each couple of layers. Then I buff it on a Beal system and so far it looks good.

Love it, Tim. What do you put over the top of the irridescent paint for a finish?

I know this is late, but this could help your SPRAY paint issue( by this time you may have already solved this problem) 1)with the spray paint you are using-- you may not have an issue FOR A WHILE, then in a couple years -- you could see a peeling. Sometimes you honestly get lucky and there is no issue> BUT that is exactly THE PROBLEM-- with rust - oleum, valspar and more--- you CAN"T COUNT ON IT to NOT have a problem-- one or several projects will turn out great and FOR NO REASON-- after you have done the VERY SAME process-- you get bad problems! 2) ALL AND I MEAN --ALL - spray paints and spray PRIMERS --- made by rust o- leum, valspar, Krylon ----HAVE SOLVENTS IN THEM and this solvent IS THE PROBLEM! 3) ONE thing you can try--- if you use a spray paint--- as your base- or ANY -spray primer--- once you spray --let it SIT FOR NO LESS than 4-5 DAYS-- your heat gun is NOT the answer! There are solvents that WILL STILL NEED to--- OFF GAS-- they NEED TIME-- as your spray paint-- sits for days it is curing and that ALSO -- lets as much of the solvent dissolve into the air! A test-- if you STILL SMELL-- the spray paint after days-- it is not cured and this next part is hard---- SOME SOLVENTS MAY NOT DISSOLVE ( in some cases, that is what makes it UNRELIABLE) Those SOLVENTS ---GET TRAPPED in the paint-- even after days! 4) how to really take care of this problem-- permanently--- USE --GESSO -- yes--artist quality --wihite or dark---GESSO -- cover your wood piece in it and if not smooth-- use 1200 grit to help level it! I have used a airbrush gun to get VERY SMOOTH GESSO application-- it is REALLY GOOD-- but gesso is not really made to go through an air brush gun( you would need to thin it!) or just brush it on and decide if you need to sand it! 5)Then use ANY ACRYLIC PAINT -- you like and let dry, then apply the iridescent paints! Acrylics are ALL WATER based and spray paints are ALL --solvent based-- some have multiple mixes of OILS( that is why they have a nice shine-- EVEN MATT-- spray paints) we know OIL AND WATER --DO NOT MIX--- then add the problem of the other propelents that the spray can needs to get the paint to shoot! I KNOW of --ONE product that you can spray on ANYTHING-- yes - I have even done plastic---- KRYLON-- UNIVERSAL BONDING PRIMER-( not the paint + primer in one can)- they made it for anything - I have not seen it in black! But-- GESSO works GREAT with WOOD --its not just for artist canvas! Remember -- you STILL should let your Base acrylic paint CURE for-3 days-- then shoot your favorite Lacquer!

Why does everybody call this iridescent FOR!!!!! Its interface paint. I got the Gold brand. Much better paint i think.
@yakkyuu12 Жыл бұрын
IT IS NOT interference paint! Here is why; Iridescent works EXACTLY like this: I has a MUCH MORE EVEN DISTRIBUTION of the iridesecent look ALL the WAY ACROSS as you paint --is it PERFECT all the way through--NO! Interference paints: DEFINITELY DOES NOT have EVEN CLOSE -- to the long stretched out MORE even distributed look of iridescent! That is on purpose, I have used both extensively, if you have used interference (by Golden -- who are STOPPING the production of it) and lets assume you HAVE gotten an EVEN coat--- you are using up your LUCK and that is exactly what it is--luck! Interference was designed to have Different levels of brighter and small streaks and patches of the shine it brings--it is more( not total) of a "shifting" of the SAME color- NOT color shifting as you might know from one color to another you may have seen!
