Samlls..brother, the best feeling ever is catching a fish on a lure you tied yourself. I took up fy fishing for a bet and fell in love with it. What"s so great though, many flies tied for trout can be scaled up for bass. Trust me the jigs you are tying will give you a different feeling when you know you created it and it worked.

Smalls when you place the rubber on the skirt material. Keep that one side shorter and when you slide it up over your hook put the shorter side down towards the hook and when you trim the tabs the skirt material will be a lot closer to the same length. Overall they look good!

I've tried some wet flies and some dry flies and some streamers in my day. My favorite type of thing to tie would be articulated streamers. Also called creature baits. My favorite fly tying material is probably Chenille Palmer. It's like a braided synthetic hackle, that has holographic properties.

My suggestion for tying your own JIGS... make sure that your LIGHTEST COLOR is mainly under the darker colors this way the fish only gets glimpses of the lighter colors and those bright "glimpses" make the fish Very excited.

As a person who makes their on inline spinners I will say making your own equipment makes every fish feel even better! That peanut butter jig was slaying and looked amazing. the wet grizzly hackle is just the hackle feathers from barred rock chickens. so cool to see you try and do some tying. ps.hackle is just a type of feather chickens have many different feathers.

Colors are different under water, reds turn black after about 10 feet under, silvers/greys take the tone of the water getting darker with depth, but blue stays blue in 300 feet of water. Fish eyes are evolved to see blue very well and can see the slightest change in blue tones. That PB and J with the blue craw looked so good I wanted to bite it!
