Tried today, took some tries and it works. But I don't blow too much because of how loud it can be. My sister would kill me if I do it louder :( My difficulties was placing my thumbs and how to blow the air, I just had to place my thumb a little bit backward and not necessarily 90 degree(maybe because my thumbs are smaller than hers), it can be slightly bent and still works. When I start feeling vibration in my hands, it's a sign that it's working, so I just do some small adjustment. At first tries, I did blow in the cavity, then I watch another tuto and shows that you have to place lips on thumbs just like she described. Definitely deserves a like :) I now have a portable whistle :)) I can't whistle with my mouth alone which makes this skill really cool, something I couldn't do before.

You are right, we didnt know it when our classmate taught us how to do it during our elementary days, since he himself dont know how to explain it, we just did it out of experimental blowings, we even figured out how to modify the hands shape for high pitch whistling, i still know it til today since its actually very easy once you figured it out, and its not really hard to learn lol

I was actually able to do it. You have to grip your hands really tight and manipulate them slightly until you hear the whistle. I had to play with it for a minute. BTW the air comes back out right under your lips to make the whistle. Also, I'm right handed so it was more comfortable to put my right hand inside my left hand. Maybe this will help someone. 👍

I found that my palms seperate or the gap between my thumbs became too big, and I got the same thing. Keep your palms tight and close the gap. Maybe that will help

I learned it at very young age...i used to play it at school functions.. You can also make sounds of dove cocoo etc just blowing air patterns.. You can make ambulance tune also by flipping fingers of lift hand...if you only place 2 fingers of right hand into the left then you can make sharper voices... I learned all these tricks by experimenting😅 😄

It depends where you blow into your hands. It’s best if your lips are placed on your knuckles, and you often have to adjust the position before you get it right, at lesser that’s what I’ve had to do before. I’m sure with practice you’ll eventually get it. :)

I actually learned that from my Grandpa. For those who can't do it. It's eather because you are letting air slip out between your findlgers or because you are blowing too hard. Another possibility is that you can't do it with the left hand going on top. Try with the right one. ALSO it doesn't necessarily have to work on your first, second, third or even tenth try. It takes time, practice and consistency to learn it like EVERY other thing in this world. It actually took me one week to properly learn it. If it makes a small sound, it's a start but to say you've learned it, you have to be able to do it again and again. Good luck

As someone who does this since I was a little kid; you can manipulate the space to achieve different pitches by squeezing your hands or by lifting your fingers. If you practice you’ll be able to play songs this way no problem. I used to do all the zelda OoT tracks hhhh

You can open the outside fingers that wrap you inside finger. The bigger you open, the higher the note will be. Or you can play it around by opening only two fingers or any combination. I've been playing my hands instrument since i was 10. It's just silly mindless time killing activity when i'm bored lol

omg !! my dad taught me to do this as a kid and we’d call to eachother outside but i lost the ability to do it as i got older and my hands got bigger, and ive been frustrated that for years i couldn’t get it anymore. but i just got it again !! with tiny hands i kept a bigger gap between my thumbs, but doing it how you did works for me now! ill have to show my dad the next time i go back home haha

I first learned this as a kid, my brother would show me and we'd play around with it. He learned from a short period with the boyscouts, it was used to mimic Owl hooing, one time instructor did it in a forest - lo and behold a owl flew past the path we had walked there, magnifficient! Just like your compact instructons! I believe thats all thats needed to make the handpipe work. Amazing content as allways ❤ EDIT: you can shift the pipes pitch by a.) Squeezing both hands slowly closer eachother making the airspace between palms smaller, raising the pitch, or playfully b.) Trying to lift one finger off the setup at a time making a random change in the note Challenge mode is to play pirates of the caribbean theme music with handflute while cosplaying as captain Jack 😂

I can play different versions of this whistle, it can be played like flute also, I have learnt before 15 yr from my grandfather. In Indian villages it is playing from an era.
