Dynema rope/Braid shouldn't have knots used and as it is a static rope will not stretch so when it does break it breaks abruptly and not fly back in either direction making it safer than wire cable type winches . The term static rope means there is no dynamic elongation under load like for instance a snatch strap for getting a 4WD out of a sand or mud bog which is meant to stretch and contract as it was intended for. This winch you are reviewing has a USA maker and is only made in the USA and has a quality backed by the family business that makes and sells these incredible tools and they also have spare parts .

Hi, check what knots you are permitted to put into dynema. Cheers Pete.

what piece of equipment did you use to take up the slack of the extra rope you had. i see about 2:30 into the video that you have a long rope with extra length lying slack on the ground. it appears you're suing some kind of device to tie off to the truck so the extra slack is taken out. what is that?

Hi John. This is simply a bowline knot tied off at the appropriate length to the vehicle. This is then looped through to a trailer hitch receiver with rated bow shackle, rather than tying off the towball. Bowlines with 10 mm rope like this dont slip, so once the slack is taken up it takes the weight.

@@handwinchnewzealand1801 I've never seen a bowline slip on any rope between 10mm and 22mm. That's without a Yosemite finish. I learned to climb on a bowline on 13mm rope. It's one of the best knots ever, 👍🪓🌲🇮🇪

How hard is it to undo the bowline after winching
@handwinchnewzealand18012 жыл бұрын
Hi Luke, it's 10mm thick rope which helps, I could do it with my hands with a bit of wiggling, but with a leatherman/pliers was immediate.

@@handwinchnewzealand1801 I’ve never tried using knots on a winch rope, I just winched single line when too far for the snatch block and too close for the extension line. Are you still using that rope? How is it holding up?

@@michaelcole506 Hi, 3 years of use but it's getting a bit frayed now, mainly as I have been dragging logs with it aswell. No breaks, but this rope was rated for 21,000 pound. I will swap out this year for a new one.
