I've loved beautiful leather handbags since my teens. I'm now in my 70's and nothing has changed. I've sold a lot of them but continue to buy what I like. Fortunately...I don't need a large bag...so it's less costly. We share the same feeling about bags ....so you go girl!

❤ One thing I would add, that I know Viv always says: don’t settle. If your heart is set on specific bag, save for it, wait for it. Don’t try to substitute, it probably won’t really scratch the itch and you’ll end up not saving money in the end when you buy both the substitute and the original item.

❤ it is easy to get sucked into the excitement of another persons style or collection and mistake it for your own. I have learned that along the way thinking a bag worked for someone else so it would definitely work for me. I am not a shoulder bag girl at this stage of my life, but not for lack of trying. When in doubt look inside not outside for what works for YOU and what YOU love!

Great tips! I like that I've bought most of my handbags before I got into watching KZbin & I don't really get into Instagram so I like knowing that I followed my heart & not tried copying someone else's choices or style. What I try to do now that I do see other people's collections is wait for a month or more and see if I still want whichever bag I'm coveting. I am also trying to be more honest with myself about whether the bag fits my current life style. I don't have a problem justifying to others. For some reason I think that over the years the people that I surround myself with are those who are genuinely happy about my happiness and everyone who knows me knows of my life long addiction to handbags😄 In fact, I think I have inspired a few of my friends into some of their purchases. My struggle is more within myself. I've gotten better, but I still suffer from buyer's remorse after most of my luxury purchases. My husband is the voice that helps to quiet the guilt and judgment. I know that it has to do with the fact that I come from a very humble background, and he doesn't. Like you, I also own all types of bags, but I do gravitate towards my luxury bags and I think it's because I think of how much they cost me and how I want to get their cost per wear (I also plan to work on that). As per wearing a bag that is no longer trendy, I actually enjoy wearing my handbags more once the trend is gone.

Totally with you Minnie. Trends are just that, I've always thought, and when they pass, like they do, the classics will always be there. The speedy has been here forever, and it will continue to be no matter what. I also collect vintage (60's ,70's and 80's) Coach bags made in New York, or USA, I love the old but fine quality designs of those days. You are right, it's my money and I spend it the way I see fit. We all need to hear this! I have been collecting luxury for 4 yrs but started small and just now getting to my larger wishlist items like the onthego tote, palm springs mini, pochette metis all in canvas but many say these are not trendy, out of date ( esp canvas) etc. I do not care because they bring great joy to own, wear, even just look at! I am alone in collecting as I have no family or friends into anything luxury so I love watching videos/IG being part of a community that understands. I, too, don't care what others think. Great video! And I agree with all of your points, I just want to say something about resale value, especially when it comes to luxury - if you are still figuring out your bag style please don’t spend a ton of money on a lux bag that you won’t get a good portion of your money back. UNLESS you won’t feel bad about not being able to recoup your money in full and you truly want to test out the bag. I’ve sold back a designer bag to fashionphile and I got 70% of my money back and I was okay with that. I used the bag and realized it really wasn’t for me and the only way to learn that was to own it. However, had I only gotten 40% back I might have felt a bit sad. It could have been an expensive lesson to learn but I did my research before the purchase and went the pre-loved route because I learned the bag wasn’t holding its value, so I skipped buying in the boutique.

🖤 I have SO many designer and contemporary bags and connect them to periods in my life that I hold precious…I will NEVER sell them and continue to rock them! Valextra bags that I purchased in Barney’s NYC when my boys were little while we were there to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. My very first LV bag is a wristlet that I bought with my sister in London in 2002. My bags hold memories and I won’t give my memories away for any price or lack of “trendiness”!

I love all of this so much. I always felt like I “should” have a Chanel, but I’ve started to really enjoy my Aspinals that give me that Chanel vibe, I love watching other peoples collections and I don’t get jealous - it’s more of a pressure I had put on myself from years before I watched KZbin.
