I have to agree with you on everything you mentioned. I can imagine that last bag is a full fail as far as being user friendly. I bought a vintage lv back pack and I refurbished it and took it out to the super market and when it came to getting out my wallet to pay, it was a struggle. Then after paying I had a bag of shopping, my back pack was open on 1 shoulder and I had to put my wallet in, move away from the counter, drop my bag of shopping, close up the backpack, pick up shopping and repeat the process to then get out my car keys Then close the bag. Omg I swear I still love that backpack but it's not user friendly

I think it makes no sense for people who are blessed with a beautiful collection. The slgs as bags do show that they re slgs imo and are „too simple“. I never got into the vanity case trend, it looked awkward to me from the beginning so I'm very appreciative that you confirmed that feeling. In the case of the Polene, is there any way you could reach customer service and explain this issue? I think it is a problem with workmanship that went possibly undetected (or not?). My Gucci Disco crossbody flips upside down all the time and it was made for the sole purpose of being a crossbody. I have to keep it zipped close all the time or everything will fall out when I grab the strap. I did a review on that bag as well.

I have bottega cardholder and key pouch from a while ago. (before bottega was a hype) and they've held great. The pouch I've had for nearly 10 years and carry it everyday, carry it in my hand when running, drop it constantly, put it in my pocket. It's old and dirty and battered but overall it has held great. I've only had the weaved leather rip on the coorners due to them rubbing against stuff all the time but I stuck them so they don't unweave further. My cardholder I've had for 6+ years and it looks almost like new although I don't carry it as much any more. Good old bottega days

Thank you for this- super interesting- do you think you will sell them ultimately? If I have issues with purchases, I love them less, I use them less and struggle to see their good points. Hi Minnie, did you know that you can push out the corner folds of the Polene Umi? It turns the bag into more of a crescent shape and also increases the amount of stuff you can put into the bag. I don't know if it will make the zipper any easier for you, but I definitely like the crescent shape better, especially when worn with the strap on a shorter length. I have 3 bottega bags and what I have learned is that while the leather is super soft and luxe, it doesn’t wear well. It is delicate and prone to color transfer. Luckily I learned my lesson on my 3rd bag and got the beautiful durable patent leather which I love!

Hi, the vanity works well for visiting family or a movie etc... definitely not for shopping. I would fear using such an expensive bag in such a light color. I'm having that issue now. I just purchased the YSL round denim camera bag (I did an unboxing video) and it does not fit my phone very well. Just barely makes it. So, do I keep it? I'm in love with it but I'm afraid I will regret it.

That sucks that the Bottega card holder didn't work out for you. :( The fraying of the leather would drive me nuts too, tbh. I might have gotten lucky with mine, tho since it hasn't done that yet, but it's a little older (around 2018/9) and it has the weave with the leather strips that's aren't as wide (if that makes any sense lol). I hope we're not seeing a quality issue creep up into Bottega, bc that would honestly be tragic for a house with such good leather work historically.

This might be heresy, so forgive me if this is crazy, but have you tried fixing the curling leather on the Bottega card holder? In the same way that people fix the creases in the toe boxes of their Gucci Princetown Slippers or Nike Air Jordans, maybe steam can be used. Slide something thin and flat (like a butter knife) under the curled weave, cover it with a thin towel, and steam it with a clothes steamer. Someone who knows better can correct me, but it *may* help.

Great video! I love these videos that also show the downside. I have the same Polene Umi in chalk which is so beautiful but impractical… thinking of selling and buying a numero neuf. you do have the strap the wrong way round, the end is supposed to go over the top not on the inside. Loop it through the gold thingy the other way round, then it goes all the way over the shoulder part and through the other gold thingy. Then you use the movable leather loop close to the first gold thingy, so the two parts of the strap stay together instead of flopping. I hope that makes sense, it took me a while to figure it out using photos on the Polene website.

I am all for versatility but I must admit that when I see modified pieces like a vanity with a strap added after market or a converted toiletry it comes off a bit gaffe like the person really wanted a bag but couldn’t afford it. I know that sounds super harsh and I don’t mean it to be but for someone like you with an amazing collection of high end bags I think you have a lot of better options. And for those who don’t have your budget there are beautiful high quality brands out there for less than the majors.

I ordered a cosmetic pouch in hopes of doing the crossbody bag, and as soon as I opened it up it was an immediate no! It wasn’t something I was crazy about. I just returned it before I even messed with it. It was lackluster for a bag to me

I sold my LV bumbag. Too cumbersome. No matter how loose or tight the strap, it was uncomfortable and "in the way".

I never got the trend of people using pouches, toiletry bags, vanities as bags. If we're lucky enough to have even a small collection of bags, why work so hard to make something work for a purpose it wasn't intended for? Better a nice non-luxury bag than walking round with a wonky toiletry 'bag'...
