This looked like the video I was looking for. I wanted a complete breakdown and assembly for my EDC X9L. This stops at the Hammer, Main Spring, Sear and ejector. For some reason these parts are out of bounds. I figured it out using other 1911 video’s and asking questions. I want to clean more than what’s visible when backstrap and grips are removed. Thanks….

Thank you for a very informative video. I would also like to see one on complete disassembly. My cleaning and lubrication technique is one I learned from a DVD that shipped with my 1st Wilson 1911 about 20 years ago. While maybe not necessary, I also put a drop of oil on the disconnector and lube the slide stop rod that goes through the barrel link. Also, watching other Wilson videos on maintenance it has been stated that cleaning is not as important as proper lubrication. This raises the question as at what round count should the gun be re-lubed?

Every 500 rounds is a good base number for this level of cleaning and lubing.

I expect to receive my SFX9 in a few days. I purchased one from the Wilson Combat website. I was very surprised to see that this morning there were 6 SFX9s in stock and available to purchase. However, I was really hoping to get one with an ambi-safety for a variety of reasons, but none of the 6 had the ambi-safety installed. It just looks like there is something missing from the space on the right side of the pistol where the ambi-safety would be. I also ordered an ambi-safety to install it either by myself or a local gunsmith. Do you have any videos available showing step-by-step on how to replace the standard safety with an ambi-safety? Or, a video showing a complete tear down and re-assembly?

Guy is a shok buff required on the 3.25 model. I have not used one since new . 900 rounds. Nooooo issues.

I may have the same issue as @raymckelvey. I am having a heck of a time completely seating it. It's not the plunger and the slide stop pin will seat completely when the slide is back all the way. I pull it out just a bit and try to seat it correctly and it just won't go.. I am aware this firearm is fitted by a gunsmith and therefore the tolerances will be close, but geez o Pete! What am I doing wrong?

Nope, this sucks! The hardest thing is getting the slide lock back in. When assembling, and disassembling you simply did NOT show the side of the slide showing the position to get the slide lock back in place. WTH?

SFT9 comes in 4.25" and has a barrel bushing. Also, the SFT9 has an internal extractor.

I bought an SFX9 with a 5" barrel today, it's incredible! But I cannot for the life of me understand why this guide rod is so short?? It seems like the spring is free to rub against the barrel? And reassembling is seriously hard, I accidentally let my guide rod go flying across the room when it sprung itself out of place. This design actually makes no sense to me - but what do I know lol.

Bill Wilson has a video where he recommends the spring "buffer" only on the gov't model, but this was before the SFX9. Comment please? Is it because of the aluminum frame? The backside internals look intimidating, and your admonition that only a professional gunsmith should go past a cursory breakdown gives me pause about purchasing an SFX9. I was between a Staccato C2 and the SFX9. You did not make my choice easier.
