Going to have to try this tomorrow afternoon. I just now, at 1:21am noticed mine was leaking all over the floor and a bit of my bed! Then I saw puddles of water all over my electrical box to my bed. I'm praying it works but won't be plugging that in for a while. What a bad time to notice this, it wasn't like this earlier!

Hear me out! I made 2 calls on my A/C with this problem for *YEARS* , about 2 years! It was never fixed that I even got myself a bucket to collect water INSIDE the freakin room LOL. Tried everything you can imagine, Balancing the AC unit inside so that if it's not evenly balanced to the wall, it could leak water inside. everything failed. I just tried the Vacuum idea now, IT WAS BLOCKED from inside the AC room unit itself as it took water out while it was almost dry from the outside. Been ON for like an hour without a drip of water. I just wish it continues to work like this! If it did, YOU SIR are a LEGEND. And even if it didn't, You're a LEGEND anyways for helping much !

The Vacuum works! I had the cleaning folks clean my AC a day ago and after a few hours,, it was still leaking. They didn't check the waterflow hose. When I checked it, there was mucous inside. Good thing I have a wet vacuum. I Iet it suck for 20 sec and the water flowed to the drain again! I paid 1500 for their service. Thanks bro!

The vacuum cleaner trick worked, so glad I found this video, THANK YOU FOR POSTING! I was experiencing a steady drip all night since the outlet tube was clogged and water was flowing over the bottom pan. I started taking apart the AC to look for a clog somewhere, checked the main air filters on the top (were clean) and then discovered this video. later, I was able to see the drain port at the bottom of the tray (left side) and some evidence of a water- dust slurry even after I vacuumed. I also noticed the cylindrical fan blade is full of dust, will need to clean that next- seems more involved to remove and clean as per other youtube videos. The fan appears to be pulsing-- hoping its from the high dust content, not the motor or bearings. BTW, I paid a HVAC company to clean this unit 2 months ago and all they did was clean the 2 surface air filters (guess because they were easy to get to. Lazy SOBs). THANKS AGAIN FOR THE VIDEO!

My installation is fairly new, since May of 2021, and it has worked great. We are in our monsoon season and humidity is high and my Lennox started dripping half a bucket of water a day. I just couldn't figure the drain line was clogged as I could see it dripping a little bit outside but there must have been a bug or maybe some installation trash partially obstructing the line and with the extra humidity in the air, it was becoming a real problem dripping. I used a wet/dry vac and this method worked Perfectly... not one drop inside... Thank You.

Good tip, many thanks, I had leaking water from a residential central air unit in the basement - about 15 years old. there was a hose and pipes leading from the unit to a drain, but water was dribbling from somewhere all over the basement floor. So - took off the hose, and saw the outlet from the unit plugged with wet dirt. Rather than push it all back in, tried the vacuum cleaner idea and it worked. I made up a seal with plasticene to seal up the suction to the outlet and some gunk came out. Then used a BBQ pipe cleaner to ream out any remaining stuff. Otherwise, I would have to dismantle the sheet metal housing and get into the condenser tray. Maybe in a few years from now!

Thank goodness for YT and for kind and helpful people like YOU! I came across your video first and you saved me! Thank you so much! 🙂 I'll tell the frustrating story in detail, kind of like paying it forward, because something may help others in this situation. I'm a single and technically challenged ;-) woman and I've spent my adult life in the US, so I never had to deal with split AC's; however, I live in Europe now and I rent on top of it, so I don't know the history of this AC, either. It's very old and it's made in Dubai (Aftron). At least this is good because, right or wrong, I trust things made there more than those made in China. This lovely and hot weekend morning I woke up to rain over my sofa, literally! Just perfect! Weekend AND summer - when you can't find any technician any time soon! Not long ago I'd felt a few tiny drops of water on my face. That had never happened before and it freaked me out. It happened a few more times later. Incidentally, almost right after that I needed a technician for another reason and I told him about that. He shrugged it off and said it was due to the heat, humidity, blah, blah... in short, it happens, not a big deal... OK... Today, I was lying down on that sofa till about 3 a.m. and nothing was happening. Found the rain 6 1/2 hours later. A cushion was already drenched. Obviously, I turned off the AC right away. I'm so afraid of that mix of water and electricity to begin with... The filters were cleaned recently, so I didn't think cleaning them would help, but I did it again anyway. Put them back. The AC kept leaking water, even though it was off. Not as much, but there was still a big drip in one place. It was leaking from a few before. I wouldn't dare do anything else, but went to take a look at the outside unit. There are 2 spigots on the side and one of them was wet, so, evidently, water was trying to get out... I started poking around the area. It was, admittedly, filthy. I've wanted to clean it, but I was afraid precisely of not messing something up while doing it. I live in an apartment building, on a high floor. The majority of the other units in town hang outside, attached to the walls. I've seen some of them leaking water, but I don't know if that's normal or not or whether they're supposed to leak only when they're on or not... Mine is on the balcony, on the floor. I've never seen water around it and I've always wondered about that... Then again, I only use it for cooling, in summer, so I might've not noticed because it evaporates quickly. I found a plastic tube/pipe hanging there. Sure enough, there was some nasty gunk plugging the opening. I removed it with my fingers and water started coming out of it and it kept coming out. There's drainage next to it, so, apparently, that's where it's supposed to go. The AC is on now and it seems to be working fine... A couple of things still bother me, though, and I'd greatly appreciate a response from you! 1) Water keeps coming out from the plastic drain pipe outside. After watching the video again, it sounds to me as if it SHOULD be doing it. That's good, right? 2) When I took a look at the spigots for the first time, only the upper one was slightly wet. When I started watching them, the 2 spigots (actually, the top "one" is a pair of 2 spigots - big & small; the one below them is of medium size) on the side of the outside unit were very wet! I'm not sure if both of them get wet now or the upper one drips over the lower one...Whatever things (cables? tubes? pipes?) are attached to them are wrapped in some foamy material. Is this leakage normal? I'm worried it's not... After drying them up and observing them for a while, it seems like they get wet when the AC runs in dry mode... The drain pipe seems to be leaking more water when in dry mode as well. Is this normal? I really hope to hear from you. Thank you again! Best, Maria
@HanDIYman007 Жыл бұрын
Hey Maria thanks for sharing your story and I'm glad your ordeal is over. To answer your questions simply: yes, water is supposed to come out of the "spigot" (drain hose/line) outside. This is normal. What is not normal is when water doesn't come out. When your indoor unit sucks in the warm air from your room, it cools that air thru condensation. A byproduct of that process is water. This water drips from the grills that you see behind the filters down to a canal inside the unit. The water then flows either left or right (depending what direction your unit is "slightly tilted" to) until it goes down the drain hose (which terminates outside). The white foam/tape that bundles together the cables/drain hose is also normal -- it keeps condensation inside so the whole line doesn't "sweat" and cause water drips along its path. I hope this helps.
@mariad6519 Жыл бұрын
@@HanDIYman007 Thank you so much for your prompt and helpful response, HanDIYman007! I was hoping you'd reply and you did. 🙂 So, the drain line is fine. Since I'm technically challenged ;-), it looks like I couldn't quite explain my other question. What I meant by "spigot" shows up in Google images looking kind of like a faucet, but it really isn't... Maybe a bolt would be a better word to describe it... In any case, these things (a pair of a bigger and smaller one above and a single medium one below) are made of metal and look kind of like bolts... They're attached to one side of the outside unit, the same side where the drain line is. Are they supposed to get wet and drip a bit or is that a problem? They seem to not get as wet in cooling mode (maybe even not at all), but are pretty wet in dry mode.
