My mini split started leaking all over our floor. I tried the wet vac method 1st because that was the easiest, and I had one available. Immediately worked like a charm! I didn't even need to do anything to the unit inside. I will be looking at cleaning the unit just because. Anyone else having this issue, I would definitely recommend that course of action first. Thanks for this great video and explanation! We have the same unit you showed in the video and were able to fix the leak. Your step by step instructions and clear video showed exactly what to do. Ok boss.... GREAT job in getting this on video!!..... YOU seem to be the man to ask this question. I bought a hybrid mini split unit and I REALLY love it!!.... It runs on 4 large solar panels here in AZ all day long without flinching without even any inverter, batteries or anything. Just run your PV wires to the AC unit and plug them in. It uses solar as the primary, then when the sun starts going down, it starts easing on the grid power little by little. FREE electricity during the day! ..... OK, my question is, Is there a function that turns OFF the water collection process? There's an app that goes with the AC unit that's pretty robust. Not too sure if I'm doing something that has made the condensation from collecting all the sudden. When I first installed it and turned it on, there was quite a bit of water coming out of the tube, now, not so much. Thoughts?
@DIYJIM Жыл бұрын
I’m guessing when you first started the AC the humidity level in your house was higher. Now that the humidity level is low, you will only get a small drip out of the condensate line. Should be ok thanks for watching

So far I cleaned my filters and vacuumed the condensate line. Nothing sucked out of the line when I used the shop vac. My mitsubishi minisplit is 6 months new, so I don't understand how it would have gotten so clogged. I've begun taking it apart as per your instructions and see if I can blow it out from inside. I hope I get put all the parts back when I'm finished!!

@@DIYJIM your instructions are very clear and gave me the confidence to attempt this project. However. I have a recent model mitsubishi minisplit and the cover is designed differently. It doesn't have the clips to release the louvers. I can't see how to remove them. I tried removing the front cover entirely, with the louvers attached,, but the lower left corner won't budge. I don't see a screw there. Don't want to force it and break the cover.😪

Thanks a lot for the vid! I have a strange problem with my indoor unit. The catch pan as well ad the condensate line is clear and working. The unit is also cooling but it is leaking on the flaps and drops on the floor. Do you have an idea what a rootcause could be? Could this be a problem with the refrigent level or pressure? The AC unit is clean. Thanks a lot!

Sorry really not sure, I would have said maybe it needs a cleaning but you said it is clean. Maybe once the humidity in your house levels off it will not make as much condensate, and stop dripping.

I remove the inside unit, disassemble it and clean before reassembling. Just did it last month. The compressor will pump all the refrigerant into the outside unit then I close the valves. The amount of refrigerant lost is minimal. My unit is on an inside wall so I had to run a condensate line through 3/4 inch pvc pipe to a nearby wall. Once an iguana got stuck in there and died so i made a cover to keep future reptiles out.
