Handling Sensitive Media on Ancestry

Neglected to mention, one can privatise other formats of media (PDFs, stories etc.) by employing exactly the same method. Personally, I now feel completely comfortable having a public family tree on Ancestry. Thanks for watching and hope this helps.

If I'm understanding this right, you create one private profile and place all photos you don't want public in that gallery. Then because you marked that person as living, no one can see any of the photos. Is that right?

So do I, but sadly too many people abuse this feature. When family members as distant as 8th cousins (not even proven by DNA, mind you) go through my entire tree and syphon all my old photos into theirs, including photos from the last 50 years, it makes me a tad uncomfortable. I feel it's completely unnecessary ; I certainly don't feel the need to upload photographs of 8th cousins to my tree, nor am I particularly interested in doing descendancy to such a degree.

Plus, using this method, people can still view thumbnails for individuals in my tree. So they'll still get to see what my family members looked like, but won't have access to all of my scanned and uploaded content.
